My Sunday Photo – wonky climbing frame

wonky climbing frame

Oops. I looked out of the window and this is what I saw. I’m presuming rather than the father-in-law driving into it on the mower, it was like that because he tried to pull it out the way to mow the jungle underneath it. Thankfully the OH was able to pull it back into place!  We’ve already lost the trampoline 18 months ago to wind, we can’t lose the climbing frame as well.

Project 365 2017 week 31 – bunting and flowers

pretty cottage gate and garden

This week I took more photos than I thought. There’s been quite a bit of patio tennis in the evenings (I’ve finally bought new grip for my racquet – one of my favourite most relaxing things, putting on new grip! so no more pink hands), and quite a lot of rain showers. But we’re through week 2 of the school holidays and I’m already realising I need to get off my backside and organise our final week off and somewhere… Continue Reading “Project 365 2017 week 31 – bunting and flowers”

How to prepare for Christmas early

Get prepared early for Christmas - Bubbablue and me

In the past I always prided myself on being really organised for Christmas. It helped that it was always a nice family day, and even though we never had a big family Christmas, it always had its traditions.  But the older I get (and being married to a man who is a definite Bah Humbug about it, and has to work on it), I’ve slackened off.  Christmas always seems to happen, but it would be nice to be a bit… Continue Reading “How to prepare for Christmas early”

A blustery Rhossili bay walk

Rhossili Bay walk - Bubbablue and me

One of the things I love about holidays is getting out and about.  I’m not great at getting out around home, unless we go out for the day, but on holiday there’s always places I want to see and do.  This camping trip the weather wasn’t that great for doing much once we’d spent the 2 sunny days on the beach.  But once the rain cleared in the afternoons we did cram in a couple of extra detours to places.… Continue Reading “A blustery Rhossili bay walk”

Keeping warm while camping with Blacks – giveaway

bedding options when camping - Bubbablue and me

Everyone loves nick nacks and intriguing gadgets, don’t they?  Of the kind you find in kitchen shops or outdoor shops?  I could spend hours in outdoor shops, and I don’t even like walking in the countryside. Ironic given I live on a farm.  (I much prefer walking round towns with everything to see than across fields, just don’t tell my OH!). Each year we have an annual camping trip with friends (mostly mums and the kids), and every time I… Continue Reading “Keeping warm while camping with Blacks – giveaway”

Welsh beaches – Three Cliffs Bay and Caswell Bay

Beach days in Gower Wales - Bubbablue and me

When you go on summer holiday with children, the main aim is usually to spend time on the beach.  For 3 years running we’ve always gone camping with friends in the same week, and so far have had pretty good weather throughout. This year though, only going for 4 nights instead of the usual 6, and we weren’t as lucky.  We had 2 beautiful days of sunshine – arrival day and the second day, and did manage to make the… Continue Reading “Welsh beaches – Three Cliffs Bay and Caswell Bay”

The end of Year 1 / hopes for Year 2

first and last day of year 1

As with N’s reception year, Year 1 has whizzed by.  It’s been a good year for him, and after spending the majority of reception playing, this year he’s got to where he should be for his year group. It just goes to prove that things have to click for them. And eventually it will for pretty much all children. Class structure adjustment N’s year was a little strange in some ways.  In his school, Year 1 children are the only… Continue Reading “The end of Year 1 / hopes for Year 2”

Living Arrows 2017 week 31 – beach digging

Living Arrows 2017 week 31 - digging on the beach

The first week of the summer holidays, we spent on our annual camping trip with several of our farming friends – mums and kids, plus a couple of dads. We were missing a few of the families from last year, but it’s a lovely group to spend time with and brilliant for the children to enjoy each other’s company. The first 2 days were beautiful – sunny and hot. After pitching the tents, we headed down to Three Cliffs Bay… Continue Reading “Living Arrows 2017 week 31 – beach digging”

My Sunday Photo – stepping stones

My Sunday Photo - 3 cliffs bay stepping stones

This year’s camping trip with our friends (mums and kids, plus 2 token dads), was to the Gower in Wales.  We were camping right above Three Cliffs Bay which is stunning…but a painful walk back up from the beach even without all your camping gear. There’s a choice of route down to the bay. We decided to go via the river and stepping stones which was lovely. Then it was a long slog over to near the water where we… Continue Reading “My Sunday Photo – stepping stones”

Project 365 2017 week 30 – camping and puppies

low planes over the tent

Week 1 of the summer holidays is complete and we’re back from our annual camping trip with friends. For the first time in 3 trips, we had more rain than sun, although I’m glad we got 2 days of amazing sun unlike those arriving at the end of our trip who were due more wind and rain.  I didn’t get much sleep unusually (well, my fitbit* says I did, but I seemed to see every hour so not sure how… Continue Reading “Project 365 2017 week 30 – camping and puppies”
