Spring walk and running races in the park

Spring park walk - Bubbabue and me

Like most children, N loves the simple things in life. Just going to the park so he can ride his bike or scoot and he’s happy.  The other day he requested a park trip, so we headed there for a spring walk, with me hoping I’d get to photograph blossom. I was disappointed there wasn’t more blossom in our local park.  Just the one lopsided bush amongst the boughs of a tree.  Other people walking past must have thought me… Continue Reading “Spring walk and running races in the park”

Mottisfont – an outdoor National Trust visit

A winter visit experience at National Trust Mottisfont for family fun - Bubbablue and me

With National Trust membership, I always feel like we should make the most of it whenever we’re away. So on our February break in the New Forest, we stopped at Mottisfont on the way home. N wasn’t impressed at doing another National Trust visit, but given I’d taken him to Peppa Pig World he owed me!  Once he knew there would be lunch boxes and water involved, he was happy.  He even told me to get out my camera to… Continue Reading “Mottisfont – an outdoor National Trust visit”

Beaulieu National Motor Museum, Palace House and Top Gear

Day trip to Beaulieu for the motor museum and palace house - Bubbablue and me

One of the first attractions on my list of places to visit on our recent holiday to the New Forest was Beaulieu.  I’ve been twice before, once as a child on a 2 family holiday and once with the OH a few years before having N.  Both times it’s been great, so I knew N would love it as well. Of course going in February did mean some activities weren’t open like the vintage bus ride, but we could still… Continue Reading “Beaulieu National Motor Museum, Palace House and Top Gear”

Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World

Day trip to Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World - Bubbablue and me

I never thought I would take N to Peppa Pig World.  But holidaying in the New Forest, I found we couldn’t really avoid it.  It always helps with negotiating for places I want to visit if N gets his choice first.  So a trip to Paultons Park was on the cards for half term. The timing worked really well. Paultons Park opened the season on the first day of our half term.  We chose the sunniest looking day and it… Continue Reading “Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World”

Walking and fossil hunting in the New Forest

Walk and fossil hunting in the New Forest - Bubbablueandme.

Once N gets something that interests him he keeps going on about it. Last term they were learning about dinosaurs and fossils at school. So he’s been wanting to go fossil hunting. So it was lucky we were holidaying in the New Forest and could check out some of the fossil hunting beaches. Fossil hunting at Barton on Sea The only problem is that I know less about fossils than he does. I’ve never been fossil hunting, I’ve never seen… Continue Reading “Walking and fossil hunting in the New Forest”

Friends together at National Trust Stowe Gardens

making friends at Stowe Gardens - Bubbablue and me

It always seems like an effort to get out for a walk at home. It’s a lot easier if I have to get out and go for a purposeful trip out.  Mary from Over 40 and a mum to one and I had arranged to meet up with our boys at Stowe Gardens.  Luckily the day was dry and mild although foggy.  So the usual reflective lake wasn’t showing its true beauty. Monkey and N have only met fleetingly once… Continue Reading “Friends together at National Trust Stowe Gardens”

Eating out with children in Lyndhurst New Forest

Eating out with children Lyndhurst New Forest - Bubbablue and me

I love eating out and going out and going on holiday in the UK. We usually do bed and breakfast which means eating out every night. Annoyingly, despite N being a good eater, I daren’t spend money on more adventurous cuisines in case he won’t eat them. He gripes about the indian and chinese foods at school, and his version of chicken fajitas excludes guacamole and sour cream so when we were away for a few days in the New… Continue Reading “Eating out with children in Lyndhurst New Forest”

Winter walk at Stowe Gardens

Winter walk at Stowe Gardens - Bubbablue and me

We had a really lazy Christmas holidays. Usually N can’t wait to get out on the farm, but this holiday, he mostly only went out for an hour or so.  My anticipated free time to spend blogging didn’t happen, and instead we spend a lot of time chilling out at home.  In between Christmas and new year, I was determined to get out though, and with Stowe Gardens not far away, I decided we should go and check out their… Continue Reading “Winter walk at Stowe Gardens”

Festive shows – Cinderella and the Lost Slipper

cinderella show banner

N’s at that inbetween age where he’s getting a bit old for the pre-school type of theatre shows (or we’ve seen the ones we’d want to see), but isn’t old enough for full on theatre shows and musicals yet. Last year we decided that our local Mill arts centre’s Christmas showing was too old for him, but this year Cinderella and the Glass Slipper looked more likely. We were given tickets to go along to the show so we took… Continue Reading “Festive shows – Cinderella and the Lost Slipper”

The Snowman and Nutcracker concert at Coventry Cathedral

The snowman and nutcracker concert at Coventry Cathedral - Bubbablue and me

I’ve never been to Coventry Cathedral but recently we combined our love of music with Christmas and headed off there for The Snowman Tour concert. I’d seen it advertised a while back, and as N loves the Snowman and quite enjoyed the Paddington concert last year, I booked for us to go. I’d planned for it to be a good festive treat with us spending the afternoon in Coventry. I’d hoped to check out the transport museum that I’d been… Continue Reading “The Snowman and Nutcracker concert at Coventry Cathedral”
