Ryton Pools Country Park cycling trails

Family cycling trails at Ryton Pools Country Park UK - Bubbablue and me

From our blog it probably looks like we go out and about a lot, and do a lot of walking. Well, we get out a fair bit (I hate being stuck at home, and it means I get N off the farm), but we rarely do walking unless we go somewhere.  To me walking the fields is really dull (it all looks the same, just lots of fields), I much prefer walking around somewhere there’s plenty of things to look… Continue Reading “Ryton Pools Country Park cycling trails”

Eaton Park – a pretty park discovery in Norwich

Pretty park discovery Eaton Park - Bubbablue and me

Sometimes you want a breather on holiday.  Usually I like to pace around from one place to the next because there’s so much I want to see.  But while away in Norfolk, N wasn’t feeling on top form so was more tired than normal.  He just wanted to lounge around at the hotel. But one day we still had a bit of time before the place we wanted to eat at was serving, so I suggested we take his scooter… Continue Reading “Eaton Park – a pretty park discovery in Norwich”

Exploring dinosaurs at Dinosaur Adventure Norfolk

Day trip to dinosaur adventure norfolk - Bubbablue and me

So many children love dinosaurs, but I think N is a bit ambivalent to them.  Sometimes he comes out with interesting facts (mostly gleaned from Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures on cbeebies), the rest of the time he’s scared of them or doesn’t care.  So I wasn’t sure what he’d make of Dinosaur Adventure.  It turned out he loved it and model animatronic dinosaurs are no longer something to be scared off.  Whoop! As it wasn’t Norfolk school holidays Dinosaur Adventure was… Continue Reading “Exploring dinosaurs at Dinosaur Adventure Norfolk”

Thursford – organs and steam engines

Thursford Collection steam engines and organs - Bubbablue and me

Sometimes we visit some really random places.  Many of those that I’ve remembered since my own childhood, and the Thursford  was one of these. On a rainy day on our Norfolk holiday, we decided to change plans from the beach and head indoors.  The Thursford popped up as an alternative and N seemed keen to check out the steam engines. I always think hanging around until 10am for places to open is a pain when we’re ready to leave hotels… Continue Reading “Thursford – organs and steam engines”

Exploring National Trust’s Felbrigg Hall

National Trust visit Felbrigg Hall - Bubbablue and me.

As children we holidayed a couple of years in north Norfolk, so I was keen to return to some of the places we’d visited back then. It was a real blast from the past although I tend to only remember names rather than details. But it was 30 years ago, so to be expected! On our first afternoon on holiday, we’d had a bit of time after Cromer before heading back to the hotel.  The weather had looked better by… Continue Reading “Exploring National Trust’s Felbrigg Hall”

Newborn animals on the farm

Newborn animals on the farm in spring - Bubbablue and me

We’re rapidly approaching Summer, but it’s still spring like on the farm with new babies appearing by the day.  Both cattle and sheep are dragging out the usual lambing and calving season.  Usually lambing for our farm is March, with calving mainly from the end of January to early March.  Obviously the timings were a bit off this year, especially as there were a couple of calves born way back in September! Lambing Sheepwise, N’s 10 pregnant ewes were some… Continue Reading “Newborn animals on the farm”

Amazona Zoo Cromer – an educational visit

Day out Amazona Zoo Cromer - Bubbablue and me .

As you might have read before, I do like to cram in days out when we’re on holiday. We rarely spend a full day at one location when we’re on our own.  Both N and I (although him more), like to have a few hours whizzing around, and then get bored and want to get away and do something else or chill out.  So we did have at least 1 mad day on holiday when we did quite a few… Continue Reading “Amazona Zoo Cromer – an educational visit”

North Norfolk seaside visits – Cromer and Wells next the Sea

Beach days out in North Norfolk - Bubbablue and me

Our recent break in Norfolk was a bit of déjà vu for me, having summer holidayed near Sheringham 3 times as  achild.  I’d chosen Norfolk rather than a city break further inland, so we could get out to the beach and seaside a few days.  It didn’t work as well as I’d hoped, because I booked the hotel really late meaning the nicer hotels nearer the coast were booked up.  With slow Norfolk roads, it was nearly an hour journey… Continue Reading “North Norfolk seaside visits – Cromer and Wells next the Sea”

Dunston Hall hotel – family friendly break

family friendly stay at Dunston Hall Hotel - Bubbablue and me (1)

I love going away. Home is great, but I much prefer getting out and about.  And feeling like you’ve really had a good break.  Even more so now we have N, because if we stay at home, holidays would be spent with him going out on the farm.  Our latest break was a last minute choice (as usual) to Norfolk. When it’s just N and myself going on holiday we tend to stay in hotels rather than cottages or B&Bs.… Continue Reading “Dunston Hall hotel – family friendly break”

Lambourn open day – meet the horses family fun

Meeting horses at Lambourn open day - Bubbablue and me

As a child I loved horses and always wanted to learn to ride. But my ballet teacher put her foot down – no riding if I was learning ballet with her. So instead I would read every book possible and visit local horses to see them.  So when I was introduced to Lambourn Open Day and offered tickets to the event by In The Paddock, I was keen to have a look and introduce N to horses close up. Our… Continue Reading “Lambourn open day – meet the horses family fun”
