Hotter shoes Spring Summer season event

Spring and Summer at Hotter Shoes Oxford - Bubbabue and me

Last year I attended a Hotter shoes blogger event at Banbury’s new store.  This season it was the turn of Oxford to host a party for some of the Oxfordshire Bloggers gang.  I love getting together with other bloggers, and this time it was a mostly new crowd to me. We were introducing some of the bright young fashion and beauty bloggers of the county to Hotter along with us more tired parenting bloggers. Of course I’d arrived too early,… Continue Reading “Hotter shoes Spring Summer season event”

How to tie a scarf 13 ways

12 ways to tie a scarf - Bubbablue and me

I don’t really accessorise that much.  I certainly didn’t in the past. A pair of stud earrings (I’ve given up wearing really nice earring because I have a tendency to lose them. 2 pairs of diamond earrings lost – even having the metal detector out didn’t find the second pair lost at home somewhere) Watch (or Fitbit* currently) Handbag Occasionally a hat if it’s really cold Occasionally a necklace or bracelet if it’s a night out. But the last few years… Continue Reading “How to tie a scarf 13 ways”

Swimming trunks for boys – shopping nightmares

Swimming trunks for boys and shopping nightmares- Bubbablue and me

I’ve found in the past that whenever I’ve wanted to buy the next size up clothes for N, I always struggle to find the size I’m after. It’s almost like the whole of our town have gone out and bought every item of clothing in that size just before I have. Sods law. But I’ve never been as exasperated as I have the last couple of weeks trying to buy swimming trunks for boys. Of course, if N was like… Continue Reading “Swimming trunks for boys – shopping nightmares”

From hoodies to crew necks – jumper fussiness

When kids go rogue about clothing choices and become fussy about jumpers - Bubbablue and me

I always said that N was easy with clothes.  He’s never wanted to choose his own clothes when we’re out shopping.  Usually I just buy things I like and I think he’ll wear, and usually there’s no moaning about the clothes I put out for him. Unfortunately this winter N has turned fussy, in particular about jumpers. Previously he lived in zip up hoodies. They were his favourites, and quite often he would get those out of the drawer if… Continue Reading “From hoodies to crew necks – jumper fussiness”

How to buy the perfect pair of jeans

how to buy the perfect pair of jeans - Bubbablue and me

I live in jeans outside of work.  Apart from dancing where I might opt for trousers because they’re cooler, it’s jeans for day or going out for me. The last time I had a wardrobe clear out, I had about 20 pairs of jeans, many that didn’t fit.  Plus the 3 or 4 pairs I do actually fit into. I have to admit, the numbers are creeping up again. Putting on weight (and having decluttered the old larger sizes last… Continue Reading “How to buy the perfect pair of jeans”

Changing perceptions at a hotter shoes event

hotter-shoe-shop

When I told work colleagues I was going to a hotter blogger event, they laughed.  And told me I was an old woman.  My previous experience of hotter was limited to a quick look into my local store in Banbury, and speaking to the PR team at a blogger conference. My initial impressions before going to the event, were that hotter shoes didn’t really fill my shoe needed.  The colours had attracted me to look at some of their shoes.… Continue Reading “Changing perceptions at a hotter shoes event”

Mummy style in the words of a 5 year old

relaxing in birkenstocks celebration

What is mummy style? For most mums I know it’s jeans of various styles, or leggings with a variety of tops, boots or ballet pumps, or sandals/Birkenstocks dependent on the season. Any mums who turn up on the school run wearing dresses/skirts and heels (especially those who aren’t in workwear), I’m always impressed with. Because since having N, I have managed to get back in heels other that on the occasional night out. I live in jeans (or trousers for… Continue Reading “Mummy style in the words of a 5 year old”

How to be a super efficient money-saving shopper

how to be a super efficient money saving shopper - Bubbablue and me

I do a lot of shopping. Actually I lie.  I do a lot of wandering round town and buying little bits and pieces I need, but rarely do a browsing shopping trip. And I’m talking clothes.  I usually buy jeans from M&S or Sainsbury’s when I need them, but rarely shop for myself for clothes apart from sale season.  I’m usually looking out for clothes for N instead. But I seem to have a reputation amongst friends for being a… Continue Reading “How to be a super efficient money-saving shopper”

Summer clothes at Mothercare

Boys summer clothes at Mothercare - Bubbablue and me

When I shop for clothes there’s always the same shops I go to.  Mothercare is one of the shops that is still there in our town but I rarely visit now N’s that bit older.  I usually nip in on the off chance, usually to check out swim wear or basic t shirts, but rarely buy much.  So when offered some summer clothes for review I was looking forward to seeing what was available now N’s in that awkward age where… Continue Reading “Summer clothes at Mothercare”

Walking on air with Wolky wedge sandals – giveaway

walking on aid with a review of Wolky Wedge sandals - Bubbablue and me

Whenever it’s time to get a new pair of shoes my heart always falls.  Ok, so you don’t put on weight on your feet so in theory shoes should always fit, but I always struggle to find a pair because a size 5 is too small and size 6s are like boats.  But when I was asked to review a pair of shoes from Wolkyshop I was looking forward to them arriving…and just praying they would fit. Wolky are a… Continue Reading “Walking on air with Wolky wedge sandals – giveaway”
