The very unique Book of Everyone review and giveaway

I saw the Book of Everyone featured on blogs last year and had it on my list of present ideas for people. Of course, then I forgot about it until the Book of Everyone asked me to choose a book to review. And with 40th birthdays coming up, it was the perfect time to check out the website and make a decision of which book to buy.

The Book of Everyone is a book I’ve never seen before. You choose the recipient, put in their name and birthday date and the online web page puts together their personalised Book of Everyone. Essentially, lots of interesting facts and quirky pictures, and creating a book all about them.

There are several different book choices – I opted for the Milestones book, although the website gives you choices for mums, dads, kids, Christmas, the quickie book and other options. Once you’ve entered the details you can then personalise further on several pages throughout. A change of cover colour; choose a different background image, or change the text. By being able to change the pages already populated, it means every book is unique.

My only disappointment with the choices was that you had way of changing the front page name. The choices for a friend were a little bit sickly sweet for me, and I just wanted a first name, not first and surname but I couldn’t find a way of changing this without removing the second name from the whole project. The covers were a little garish unless you wanted to opt for the more neutral colours. I’d have liked a few more elegant choices similar to the colours you tend to get on photobooks.

My Book of Everyone arrived fairly quickly, well wrapped and protected in a plastic sleeve. It’s reassuring that if you posted directly for a gift, it would arrive safely. It’s a reasonable size and good quality paper. Generally for a gift I’d have preferred a hard back but I’m not sure I’d spend £30 on one.

The artwork and text is clear, and I didn’t spot any errors or problems with it. It’s certainly a quirky and unique gift, and I could see myself pouring over the facts reading it.
