Project 52 2026 week 37

A week later than planned as I’d been away for the weekend, but here’s my week 37 for Project 52.

Sunday – didn’t feel like I’d slept well. I’m doing a hypnosis app for better eating habits before falling asleep and don’t know if that’s impacting it. But I can’t really listen the rest of the day because I never know when someone else will walk in the door and disturb me.Other than a brief trip to the butchers and supermarket when they opened, it was a day spent at home. N was out helping a game keeper, and I did more washing, made some healthy energy balls (they might be a bit gooier than planned) and a lemon self saucing pudding ready for dinner.

Monday – back to work. Relatively quiet day not much going on other than working out what washing I could get done and dried before my weekend away.

Tuesday – in the office. Pretty quiet, missed a couple of usual people. Lots of calls though. Afterwards dropped off my M&S returns, had a mooch round the food hall, but none of the reductions caught my eye. They’re now on Too Good to Go but the offer gets bought as soon as it goes live.

Then off to dancing. Class wasn’t as good as normal as we didn’t work through anything new, I presume because it’s the dance weekend coming up. I think we’ll get all the new dances after that.

Got home to find the code for N’s school photos. I was hoping to buy one given they’ll be his last ones. But I don’t think so. The smile isn’t even a smile. I can’t believe the school photographers don’t keep snapping, as even if they’re less formal or speaking at the time, I’m sure they’d have a better choice of pictures. I’d love to know what % actually get purchased.

Wednesday – very productive before work putting on a washload, folding 2 lots, putting tea in the slow cooker and unloading the dishwasher. Managed to get the washing outside so at least it’s got a good start on getting dry.

N stayed for one of the afterschool revision sessions (they tempt them with biscuits evidently). School puts on late buses after clubs, but his bus only arrived at around 4.35 (club finished nearly an hour before). Then it was trying to track him via Snapmaps/him messaging me letting me know where the bus was. Always a bit of guesswork as the buses are by request, so you never know what random routes they’ll go.

Thursday – early supermarket to get a few things for them as I’m not having a food shop delivered this week while I’m away. Then got caught up in horrendous queues of traffic to get out of town. I’d heard there were roadworks in a nearby village, but to be all the way back into town was madness, as it should have been a bit ahead of school run time.  Got back in time to start work though, but didn’t have any morning reading time like normal.

After dinner, N came with me to get the petrol I’d forgotten in the morning and a couple of bits he decided he needed. Then packed for my weekend away.

Friday – early start with a friend collecting me for our line dance weekender in Dawlish Warren. We had fun with road closures that weren’t appearing on Waze or Google, but still managed to stop at Tyntesfield National Trust for a break and visit. Lovely house, but didn’t really have time or inclination for the extra walking to the kitchen garden.

Then on the road via a western clothes and boot shop in Crediton. The boots that we were looking for weren’t really available there, so we just browsed before heading to the hotel. The evening was dinner then a lot of dancing before I had a late night getting to sleep.

Saturday – nice hotel breakfast, then dancing workshop in the morning. In the afternoon a few of us walked along the coast next to the railway line into Dawlish (it was definitely further and more painful walking than the mile I was promised!). We had a light cafe lunch, stopped to see the black swans, played crazy golf and had an ice cream. Then thankfully caught the train back to Dawlish Warren.

Had some bad news from a friend, so will need to catch up on that when I’m back home.

A quick nap and rest my tired legs before dinner and then dancing again. I had a really painful foot on the top. Presumably just from all the walking and dancing. I’d done over 50k steps in 2 days, so way more than usual.
