Using Super Sparrow water bottles at home and on the go

We’re a bit of a reusable water bottle hoarding family here. N and myself love a new water bottle, and we’ve even converted the OH to using one when he’s out on the tractor, rather than just using old squash bottles – which surely can’t be safe when they’re in the tractor in the sun all day.  Super Sparrow asked us to try out their water bottles and see what we thought.

Super Sparrow was launched in 2015 with the aim of providing people with water bottles to keep drinks hot and cold all day. Now there’s a whole range of colourful bottles in the offer, all using advanced technology and using as eco friendly materials as possible. 

For us, we don’t drink tea or coffee, but do want to be able to drink water throughout the day to keep healthy and hydrated. And I want to avoid buying bottles of water when I can. Plus we’re now getting to the winter months, so having an insulating bottle that will keep my drink warm through the day until I want to drink it, is important. And more convenient than having to make a second drink when I want one.

Super Sparrow have 4 different bottle types in their range, and different sizes ranging from 350ml to 1.5L, depending on the bottle type. We chose 3 from across the range: a Tritan Sports bottle 750ml, Wide Mouth insulated stainless steel bottle 500ml and a standard mouth insulated stainless steel 750ml.

Tritan Sports Bottle

I opted for the frosted bottle in a seagrass colour. I’d never seen the colour choice quite like that from Super Sparrow and it did make it hard to choose. There’s a colour for everyone in the family. Being BPA and toxin free it means you can be reassured in using the bottles time and time again. You can easily wash them with warm water, and feel nice and chunky in your hand. (I have to admit I just put it in the dishwasher after it’s been used for a while and it’s been fine).

Easy to carry and attach to any bags you have, the sports bottle has a fabric handle. And it’s a nice chunky feel for drinking out of. With a one hand button open flip lid, there’s a hook to keep it water tight and leak proof. With a little hole in the cap, it means you have free water flow. N finds he gets fewer hiccups drinking from these bottles rather than the cheaper ones where you have to squeeze to get the water out due.

I like a larger water bottle as it helps me keep track of how much water I’ve drunk through the day. On the side are measurements to help keep track too.

Insulated stainless steel bottles

The Super Sparrow insulated bottles come in different mouth sizes. We chose the wide mouth and standard mouth versions. They’re BPA free and are made from pro grade stainless steel.with a sweat proof finish that is comfortable to hold onto. 

The double walled insulation means that the Super Sparrow bottles will keep drinks cold for 24 hours and hot drinks hot for 12 hours.  I tend to put boiling water into the bottle to heat it up first, before emptying and adding the hot drink.  I’ve been putting in 2 cup worths of hot chocolate at the start of the working day, then I can have one mug early and the leftovers is still warm for drinking in the afternoon.  We’ve also taken the bottles to the park with hot chocolate in, and poured it into beakers.

The standard mouth bottle didn’t just come on its own, it also came with an insulating bag with a strap which is useful for carrying a bottle (rather than trying to shove it into a too small handbag which I struggle with).  Plus 2 different caps – a sports cap with 2 straws, or a standard screw top you can either drink straight out of or just pour into a cup. There was also a small washing brush included. It would make a great gift, coming in lots of different colours like a complete set.

N has already swiped the green standard bottle with the sports cap for himself to take to school as his water bottle. They’re durable and easy to drink from, meaning no water leaks all over his bag or desk. It fits nicely in his rucksack side pocket.

These bottles are going to be our regular grab bottles whether we’re using them on days out, to take to tennis training, or for just topping up water at home. With a lifetime guarantee, I’ve got confidence they’ll last.
