Top posts of 2013 on the blog and onto 2014

While I’ve done my round up of the year, I thought I should do a post round-up, sharing the top posts of 2013 on Bubbablue and me.  It gives me a chance to reminisce and for newer readers to find out what else we might have been up to in the last year.  I’ve looked back at a mix of posts, so if you missed them do check them out below.

If you’d like to see posts in future on a similar theme, then do let me know and I’ll have a think and see what we can do.

Creative and crafty

It’s not that often we get crafty any more due to time constraints (and N not usually being that keen), but I’ve tried to share a few successes or failures that we’ve had.  These 3D snowflakes were everywhere this year, and I was astounded at how simple they are to make.

I’m definitely not a particularly creative cook, but I do like to try new dishes.  My favourites though are anything to do with chocolate.  They’re great for gifts and this triple topped chocolate bark went down a storm.  I’ll be writing up some of my fudge (success and disaster) I did for family Christmas gifts in due course, so keep a watch out for that as well.

Healthy and beauty

I have done a few random reviews of gifts I’ve been bought, or items that I’ve found and love.  I’m still using my Clinique Moisture Surge Thirst relief pot that my best friend gave me last Christmas (although worryingly, N now tells me to ‘put that on’ in a morning!), so it’s lasted well and I’d buy again for myself.

I also had a view on the Bounty photo discussions that were doing the rounds on social media.  Do the photo reps hound new mums, should they be on wards at all, or are they a good idea?

Days out

Being a parent means lots of reliving your youth and having days out with your children, and we like to be out and about.  Probably less in the latter part of the year due to my mum’s illness, but one day that’s great to see round these parts is the Banbury Canal Day.  If you have a similar event in your area, I’d recommend checking it out.  Being a cheapskate I love free days out, just wandering round and showing N everything.  You can’t beat them, and if you can arrange picnics and meet ups with friends, it makes it even better.

We’re big fans of agricultural shows (how could we not be!), and this year we headed to a new agriculture and country show at Stoneleigh.  Hopefully 2014 will see it develop further as it’s great to find another show near home.

N will still be swimming with Water Babies and we hope to continue blogging with them through next year.  Our most popular swimming post was about making friends – definitely an upside to swimming lessons, along with obviously learning to swim.

I’m aiming to have a bit of a redesign of the blog in 2014.  I just need to decide what I want, get some ideas and then get organised.  Hopefully more trips out, more crafting, more books, and lots more about what we get up to as N turns 3 in January.

Thanks for reading this year, and hope to talk to you into 2014.  Happy new year.

    1. The chocolate bark’s so easy as well, and really versatile. A bit like rocky road – shove on whatever you fancy or have around!

  1. I didn’t realise Banbury had a canal day – will have to look out for it. I’m a bit further south so went to something similar in Newbury, on the Kennet & Avon canal. #pocolo

    1. Oh yes, the canal day’s great, although could be under threat from further development plans which could enclose that part of the canal. It would be a shame to lose it.
      Thanks for popping by
