Project 52 2025 week 30

Mix of a week this one thanks to some time off and it’s been the first week of the school holidays. I cut short my leave from a week because we weren’t going away, so I didn’t see the point of wasting the holiday time. I haven’t managed to catch up on my sleep, so really must do better, and not just lie in in the mornings reading! Here’s my week 30 for Project 52.

Sunday – rained quite a bit again. I felt for the cyclists doing a race round our way through the worst of it.  After having had a big family meal at the farm for mother in law’s birthday on Saturday, a few of us went over on Sunday to clear up the leftovers. A perfect dinner in my opinion!

Monday – back to work for me. N went off to play tennis with a friend as well as spent most of the day on the farm. I’m struggling to get all my Kindle Unlimited books to actually sync to my Kindle which is frustrating. I’ve only got a 3 month trial so I won’t continue with it after that. Luckily a restart worked, but hopefully I won’t have to do that each time I buy more books.

Tuesday – I went straight from the office to pick up a couple of bits from Tesco and some petrol, then off to line dancing. Quieter class now it’s holiday time, but still so warm.

Wednesday – first day of leave. I went to Boughton House Garden for a wander round there. I hadn’t realised that it’s basically next to the beautiful Seizingcote I’ve been to before, and Batsford Arboretum. I could have spent a whole day out at all 3 places if I’d planned it better. It’s a lovely garden to walk around, but I was only there less than an hour as I didn’t fancy walking around the long meadow and wooded walk that’s part of the estate.

Thursday – I’d arranged to meet up with a friend in the morning. We went to a nice garden centre cafe – arrived just after 9.30 so had a late breakfast there. Paid and left the cafe at just after 1, quick wander around the shop. Then stood by the cars chatting til 4.30! Oops. By the time I got home they’d decided they didn’t want what I’d planned to cook, so N cooked them pizzas in the pizza oven with dough he’d made the day before. I missed out again as I was off dancing in the evening.

Friday – my Tesco delivery was due like always, between 8-9. So an early wake up for a day off. By 9.20 there was no sign of the delivery, the tracker wasn’t updated at all, and I’d not had a phone call. I ended up calling them to find out that they’d had systems issues with the delivery drivers having no information, so while shops were being picked, there was no way they could know where drivers were. I was heading out, so didn’t want to sit around. I ended up cancelling it as they had no idea when they might turn up.

I headed off to do my food shop myself (urgh, never again in Tesco, too many pickers in the way and too many people who shouldn’t be let loose with a trolley! I usually only do top ups). But I did like their self scanners – I never use the Tesco ones. Then checked out the new Farmfoods that’s opened in town (it’s moved from its old location). It’s clean and tidy, biscuits and treats, fizzy drinks were a bargain so I know where to go for those. My bargain was olive oil at £4.99. But didn’t actually buy any frozen stuff as the branded ice creams weren’t that good value.

It seems my Tesco delivery turned up at breaktime, so about 15 minutes after I left home. I’m guessing they arrived then realised it was cancelled, so left. A very frustrating morning as I didn’t end up having enough time to do everything I wanted to in town because I was an hour later than planned going in.

Saturday – needed to get N a shirt for the wedding we’re at in August. M&S failed to have XS mens or a 14 inch slim fit so now back online trying to find some. At least then we can compare men’s and teen sizes. He wanted to go swimming but the usual pool has only morning sessions during the summer holidays so they’d missed the time, and the other pool has no Saturday swimming. So strange. He and his cousin went and played tennis instead.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • A leisurely day of chatting and catching up
  • 3 days off work and time to myself
  • Sleeping under a cool blanket, a cheap Instagram purchase. It works, although I did have to switch to my duvet early morning.

Things I’m grateful for this week:

  • Avoiding the rain when out and about
  • Slightly cooler weather
  • Being able to coordinate timings with a friend. Even as kids get older it’s often hard to do.

  1. Sounds like you had a nice few days of leave even if you didn’t manage to catch up on sleep. Nice to have a wander around Boughton House Garden and a nice long meet-up with your friend. The issues with the Tesco delivery sound frustrating. Hope you manage to sort out the wedding shirt for N. #project365

  2. Thank you for sharing your week, Emma! It sounds like a perfect blend of relaxation and productivity. I love how you made the most of your time off, even with a few hiccups along the way. The family meal sounds delightful, and it’s wonderful that you got to catch up with friends at the cafe! ☕️✨ Wishing you more enjoyable moments!

  3. Love the photo of the plant pots, I’m trying to create something similar for the succulents but under a cover for winter time, but I haven’t got anywhere enough pretty pots for them. Shame about the Tesco delivery, I had a similar problem with my mums last week with them cancelling about an hour before it was due, then when I reordered everything was out of stock, including milk and bread.

  4. Deliveries are great, until stuff like this happens – very frustrating. But the rest of your week sounded good 🙂 Those long chats where you forget about the time are the best.

  5. It makes sense cutting your leave short if you weren’t going away.
That is lovely that your MIL had a perfect dinner.
It sounds like you have had some great days out, I do love a garden centre.
Ugh! It is annoying when the food deliveries go wrong. I have found that with Farmfoods. The cakes, biscuits and drinks are bargain prices but the freezer stuff not so much.
Those plants and pots are so pretty. x

  6. What a colourful display of potted plants, a feast for eyes.
Sorry you had to cancel the Tesco delivery, so frustrating they didn’t update in time to let you know whether to expect them or not.
I often wonder if it’s worth doing Kindle Unlimited, but I have way too many books to read which I have bought already plus the free books on Amazon Prime that I keep postponing getting the KU. The synch issues sound annoying.

    1. Lol, exactly the same issues I have with so many books still to read. I will blitz KU for the 3 months, then go back to everything I’ve got stocked up on already

  7. It sounds like you’ve had a busy week!
That’s frustrating about the Tesco delivery, I do click and collect nowadays to avoid the disappointment.
I’ve noticed that the frozen food in Farmfoods isn’t really a bargain, but the other things they sell really are.
