Project 52 2025 week 1
First week of 2025, and the proper winter weather’s arrived. I missed looking out for the Aurora Borealis on New Year’s Day evening, although it was cloudy here. The following night there was nothing visible, although my phone camera did pick up some green once it was uploaded onto my laptop. Otherwise it’s been a quiet start to the year.
Wednesday – New Year’s Day. No specific resolutions set, just to get back on the healthy eating and walking really. Nothing done except relax for the day, read my first book of the year, and did some of my puzzle.
Thursday – had ordered a personalised collar for the dog which N had decided to gift the OH for his birthday. The seller needed to check font, but messaged the OH (I presume as that was the phone number of the collar, and maybe I didn’t have mine on my Etsy). Luckily, he was oblivious so N sorted out getting the message. I was in Stratford having a mooch around as I’d needed to get some bits from Lakeland, but had got an email message myself too. Thankfully it all got sorted ok.
Friday – such a cold day. Winter’s here. Tesco delivery was later than expected in the slot – and for the first time in ages had 2 substitutions and something totally missing. So I was later getting into town to drop off a return to Next. 3 days into the year and I’m already bored of thinking of meals to cook, so a long queue at the chippy in town for tea.
Saturday – football was cancelled due to a frozen pitch. Shame as it was their local opponents, and should have been a good win for the start of the year, but at least it means they’ll now have training and some fitness between now and their next match next week. It meant I had time to head to town to the bakery stall and farm shop in case forecast snow comes overnight. I’d already made my hot chocolate in my flask to take to the match, so had that all morning to drink.
No new posts this week (poor showing, especially as I have a few planned!).
Things I’m grateful for this week:
- Time off work
- New jigsaw puzzles
- My Christmas present of a standing corner light in the living room which means my little seating corner isn’t now in the dark
Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Chippy tea meaning no cooking required
- Time spent reading
- Starting to see all the turning 14 photos from my baby board Facebook group. It’s a long time since we started on the Babycentre forum when we were pregnant. Can’t believe it’s been 14 years.
Happy New Year!
The substitutes can be a hit and miss, so I always select “no substitutions”. Missing a delivery slot is rather poor from them, hopefully it will not happen too often this year.
You mentioned puzzles and I also saw your Wasgij Santa Dash puzzle. I did that one for Christmas and also Elf Inspection. My husband glued them, so we will use these as decorations for next Christmas.
Ah that’s a nice idea having them set to put up. I’ve just finished the Spirits of Christmas one that I’ve had for a while and not done, but I usually just sell them on or charity shop them afterwards.
Happy New Year! A quiet start is the way all new Year should begin I think. Winter has most definitely arrived, we’ve had a lot of snow this week which is now sadly turning to ice.
It’s a shame the match was cancelled, I saw lots of things being cancelled over the weekend.
Enjoy your new jigsaw puzzles.
Brrr, thankfully we only had the 1 bit of snow before it melted, and no more this week. At least all league matches were cancelled, not just ours. Over Storm Bert weekend, our team’s was the only one that went ahead which was ridiculous as it wasn’t a fair competition with the wind, so now they’re a game ahead of all the others.
Happy new year Emma! I saw the aurora alert but it was cloudy here so no chance of seeing them. Glad N got the dog collar sorted out without your OH seeing. It has been a cold start to the year. Shame that football got cancelled but at least more time for training is a good thing. The ice patterns in your photo are so pretty. #project365
Going on their bleep test results from today, they definitely needed the extra training! Poor showing from all but 4 of them (one who’d come back from injury, so couldn’t get worse, and the other 3 are like machines and have regularly run or swum over the holidays).
If I can only see the Northern Lights through a phone exposure then I don’t consider I’ve actually seen them, the sky has looked more dark green than it’s usual dark blue though earlier last week. I’m also fed up of knowing what to eat every day. I find eating more of a chore than a pleasure, whereas my husband likes to know in the morning what he’s going to eat in the evening, thankfully he does most of the cooking.
I’m definitely a planner (mainly because I need to try and prep food at lunchtime, and I vaguely know on what day what the protein will be), but I’ve had so many dishes knocked off the list by the OH, it’s hard to find enough that everyone will eat, when I’d just be happy having a stir fry everyday (that they won’t eat).
We were lucky, we managed to see the northern lights the previous 2 times without the camera, but the pictures certainly bring it more to life.
I have managed to miss the Northern Lights every time sadly. Think I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I will just book a trip to see them one day!
I’m shocked that your Sainsbury’s delivery is like that – every week I have to make sure I check the email first thing as we get so many substitutions, short life products and things not available!
Chippy tea is always a win.
Happy new year & I am hoping our tennis chats will now resume!
Oh that’s a shame. I’ve read a couple of times that 2025 might have more opportunities to see them too so you never know. Ah yes, my Tesco delivery is usually pretty good, although it’s first thing on Fridays usually, so I suspect it’s getting picked after overnight deliveries. Even Christmas I think I only had 1 substitution.
I keep missing the Northern lights too. Hmmf.
Friday was so cold wasn’t it but it has been slightly warmer today here.
Happy new year! Wishing you all the best for 2025. x
