Fun with 5 second rule and Staccups game review

staccups game

If Staccups doesn’t win numerous toy or game awards I’ll eat my hat (or I would if I wore one).  When I was introduced to some of the new games from University Games at Blog on Xmas, I didn’t expect to get hooked on one.  But Staccups can do that to you even if you’re not a particular fan of board games.  Following the Blog on conference, I was sent 5 Second Rule and Staccups game to review. Staccups game… Continue Reading “Fun with 5 second rule and Staccups game review”

Flashing fidget toys from Zing – Spinbladez and Spinzipz

Like so many other children this year, N loves fidget spinners and any other quirky toys he can fritter away time on. We were sent some recent release fidget toys from Zing – the Spinbladez, Spinzipz and Thumb Chucks to review. We both love the Spin toys.  Both the Spinbladez and Spinzipz are addictive.  Who can resist flashing lights to remind you of disco lighting? Both are good chunky, good quality toys.  Dropping these isn’t going to break them. The… Continue Reading “Flashing fidget toys from Zing – Spinbladez and Spinzipz”

Making bamboo towel elephants with The Towel Shop

Folding bamboo towel elephants and a review - Bubbablue and me

A year or so before N was born I decided I wanted to get a decent shower put in the bathroom, and change it all to white.  Duly done, although it’s still a little unfinished (no blind, no splashback on the sink), and we’ve had no end of problems with the toilet so it’s rarely used.  But the shower is bliss because we have a pump.  But our towels are still a hotch potch of colours and makes. I wanted… Continue Reading “Making bamboo towel elephants with The Towel Shop”

Eating out at The Falcon, Warmington – review

The falcon Warmington - Bubbablue and me

While we don’t eat out for dinner every month, we do have a usual crowd we go out with on occasion. It’s quite a large crowd so sometimes you can’t go out with everyone, and the other week we decided to go and try out a new pub for us. The Falcon in Warmington. The Falcon used to be a Harvester style restaurant with a hotel attached. But a few years ago there was a fire, and it returned having… Continue Reading “Eating out at The Falcon, Warmington – review”

Searching for stars with Discovery Kids telescope

putting the telescope up

N has always been interested in the moon and stars ever since he was a toddler. So I was hoping that being sent the Discovery Kids telescope to review was going to be a hit with him. My degree was in geography so I’m always interested in trying to encourage any interest N shows in the world around us. When the 40mm astronomical telescope arrived in its box it was massive. There’s certainly enough padding to keep the telescope safe… Continue Reading “Searching for stars with Discovery Kids telescope”

Music streaming through your tv with Electric Jukebox

Electric jukebox for tv music streaming - Bubbablue and me

We love music in our house. We might not agree all the time on what to play, but all of us enjoy listening to it. The OH and N love to rock (loudly and in the dark) while watching bands like Foo Fighters and ACDC. I prefer more eclectic tastes, listening to music in the car, or on the ipod or radio in the kitchen while cooking. And of course I dance a lot and hear a lot of new… Continue Reading “Music streaming through your tv with Electric Jukebox”

40th birthday celebrations in London at K West hotel

celebrations-in-london-at-k-west-hotel-bubbablue-and-me

When my best friend announced a year ago that birthday parties were over-rated, she suggested that for our 40ths (within a couple of weeks of each other), we should leave our boys at home with their dads while we went on a luxury weekend break. My head filled with ideas of Morocco, Italy, France and more…until she suggested London. Not quite as exciting as I expected. But given it meant less time away from home, less holidays booked off work,… Continue Reading “40th birthday celebrations in London at K West hotel”

Swimming with Baby Swimming Shop accessories

kids shortie wetsuit

N’s been swimming for 5 ½ years – you’d think by now he’d be able to swim unaided for a decent distance, but no not yet. N does everything in his own time. However after our experience trying out some Zoggs seal dive sticks and a swim fin from Baby Swimming Shop, I’m thinking we might have progressed further using these in the past. Baby Swimming Shop, despite the name, isn’t just for babies. They also sell children’s swimwear and… Continue Reading “Swimming with Baby Swimming Shop accessories”

Summer circus fun at Odds Farm Park

odds-farm-park-bubbablue-and-me

I’ve heard good things about Odds Farm Park, so when they sent us tickets to go over the summer holidays, we were there like a shot. We took a friend and her daughter with us, and the day turned out to be a beautiful sunny one too. Perfect for a day out. Odds Farm Park is near High Wycombe in the middle of nowhere and we arrived just after opening. There’s plenty of car parking and it needed it, with… Continue Reading “Summer circus fun at Odds Farm Park”

Farming and family fun at the first ever BBC Countryfile Live

Days out Countryfle Live - Bubbablueand me

As soon as I spotted the BBC were doing the first Countryfile Live show, and that it was local to us, I knew we would be going.  We’re farmers (well, N tells me I’m not, but I live on a farm and am married to one) and watch Countryfile every week.  As I’m sure most farmers do.  So of course it was an essential day out for us. We were lucky enough to get hold of tickets (blimey, by that… Continue Reading “Farming and family fun at the first ever BBC Countryfile Live”
