Project 52 2025 week 5

It’s been nice this week seeing the evenings getting lighter. It’s not been so great having a surprise road closure happen 2 weeks after it should have done. So Monday’s bus drop off will need to be elsewhere and hope the bus detours somewhere sensible on the way home but back to a longer detour of around 6 miles for pick up again. That screws up my efficient 5 mins pick up of usual, so might have to move around some meetings. Here’s our Project 52 week 5 just gone.

Sunday – a nice relaxing day. I did quite a bit of crocheting which I’ve not done for a while. But finally after 2 years of planning to do them, I’ve done some crochet hearts to get up on the blog.  Also transferred some more of my old blog posts from my lists blog over to this one.

Monday – miserable storming weather, rain, wind and the occasional blue sky.  More blog work. I’ve been reading a novel set in the 1950s which isn’t my usual read but I’m hooked. More blog transferring done.

Tuesday – another miserable weather day. Work was busy which I like, then line dancing in the evening. We whizzed through the dances we’d already learnt, and learnt another new one. So we’re working through dances nicely. It was a bit quieter people wise. Someone was saying she’s been going for 17 years! She’s the one I need to ask about the socials and how they work.

Wednesday – busy day again. Football training in the evening and they’re back to whiteboard tactics ahead of their first match since November. One of my school friends is back living in the Shire again, so the 3 of us who usually meet up, have managed to find a free day to meet up in a couple of weeks. Pretty good going.

Thursday – made a beef casserole to put in the aga for an easy dinner. Except I put it in the top oven to just bubble up for 10 minutes before I could put it in the simmering oven. Then I had a late breakfast before starting work, and totally forgot. Went into meetings and then only remembered at 1 when I went to have some lunch. Err, bit charred and black. So I’m on a rescue mission to rescue my lovely Le Creuset dutch oven/dish, but it looks like it’s doing ok after a few hot water soakings. Phew. Had to get takeaway pizza because I didn’t have any in the freezer,no time to defrost and cook more meat, and I need to do a food shop. Oops.

The evening they made flapjacks…unsuccessfully. Evidently they were hard because of my not soft enough porridge oats (eh?), but I think it’s because they were put in the aga which is too hot a temperature. So 2 cooking oops in one day.

Friday – short working day.  Had a big Tesco delivery as I was stocking up for a final day of the season walk around shoot. Otherwise a wet miserable day. The next lot of flapjacks were better – I’m told because they used my MIL’s Quaker oats.

Saturday – N wasn’t at football this morning so I had a lie in. Instead they were having a last day of the season walk around shoot with a few friends and family over. I nipped into town to stock up on birthday cards, and do some other bits. I got my free Greggs hot chocolate through my car insurance perks. Then went home for some lunch and to commiserate over the people I sold in my fantasy league who I’ve had virtually since the start and have scored. Urgh. Poor January, and start of February, I’m probably about to be overtaken by 3 or 4 people who’ve triple captained Salah and brought in loads of double game week players.

We’re heading out for a friend’s birthday meal this evening which will be nice to see people I’ve not seen in a while.

  1. Oh no, the burnt dinner. Glad you managed to rescue Le Creuset casserole dish.
Road closures sound very frustrating. Hope it’s all sorted out soon. And yes, the days are getting longer, I also noticed that. Nice to have a friend moving closer to you.

  2. Only know – hope your Le Creuse dish makes a full recovery!!
Sounds like a busy week. Road closures are the bane of my life at the moment – they are everywhere

  3. I have noticed it staying lighter on an evening too.
Oh no to the road closure, you have had so many around you over the last 6 months or so.
How lovely that your school friend is back. I hope you’s get to spend some time together.
Oops to the casserole. It’s a good job your Le Creuset pot survived.
