Project 52 2026 week 2
It’s been a busy week, lots of rain, and lots of traffic issues. But lots of fun things going on too which is always a treat. Here’s week 2 of my project 52 for this year.
Sunday – back to rain rather than snow. I returned some underwear Iโd bought which didnโt match the tag size. The customer service lady couldnโt believe seeing it, she had to check each of the 5 pairs in astonishment, and they were all a size too small.A couple of other stop off points before heading home. More chores – washing seems like never ending – thatโs 4 loads this weekend, and 2 fleeces of Nโs didnโt even fit in. Tried to have a more relaxing day – watching the last of the Christmas movies Iโd recorded, read, and tried to run through some of my line dances learnt from last week.
Monday – popped into town after dropping N at the bus stop and before work to get my tyres pumped up. Luckily just got in before the fuel lorry came in, so they waited to let me out before blocking me in. Busy work day but otherwise not much going on. An early night before a busy 3 days coming up.
Tuesday – in the office. Town traffic is carnage thanks to roadworks near the office. Roadworks to make โopenโ wider pedestrian islands rather than the standard more enclosed fenced traffic lights, and moving one of the lanes on 3 of the crossroads to be bus lanes only. Sigh.
For the sake of getting buses to save a few seconds, despite the fact that local bus passengers seem to have the same view as car drivers about the waste of money and time itโs going to take for no reason as buses arenโt running late now. Trafficโs already bad around town, and for work Iโve no way of avoiding it. Using the station next week is going to be hell getting out.
Theatre evening to go and see Friends! The Musical Parody. It was such good fun, and the cast were brilliant.
Wednesday – Managed to switch the orthodontist to a slightly later appointment (so much for there not being any), so that means no worrying about school still not having responded to answer why taking N out for the last 15 minutes of the day for a medical/dentist appointment would beunauthorised!.
Tried a new dance class. It was ok – only 8 in the improver class (but about 30 people turned up for the intermediate/advanced class afterwards). Compared to my other classes it was a bit odd, and they werenโt very welcoming to a new person. The 2 teachers didnโt have sign up forms or anything formal (all very strange, and how come they have no waiver forms/requirements for knowing whoโs there for health and safety), and why wouldn’t they want to know who the new people attending are?
The teaching was minimal compared to the teacher at my normal place. Luckily I knew at least half of the dances, and the others they did one quick wall walk through – as most were beginners rather than improver dances they were easy enough to pick up.ย Itโs good to know thereโs an alternate class, but it was a little strange.
The Traitors was brilliant again. What was Harriet doing!?
Thursday – miserable wet day. Ended up having the dentist changed again to the town location because the retainer was sent there. Long wait – Iโve never seen it so busy. So heโs now got a top retainer (plate) to finalise closing a gap, plus bottom one which is more like an invisalign type just to keep the teeth in place. The top one keeps flipping out so heโs basically not going to wear it, so I think weโll need to get it back in to the dentist to get it tightened a bit more. More faff going back and forth.
Back to my other dancing class for the first time this year. Busy with a new couple who wanted to try some improver classes but canโt at their normal venue (so frustrating when line dancing instructors only cater for certain classes during the daytime when people work). Nice to see everyone Iโve not seen in a while.
Friday – late working to finish off bits and pieces. Then tennis lesson for N. Thereโs only 3 of them for most of this term until the 4th is back post winter cricket training. Itโs always chilly in the car waiting but at least I get to read lots of my book.
Chance to catch up on the Euros Ice Skating – I wish Iโd managed to find time to get tickets, but it just wasnโt convenient this week.
Saturday – the OH’s birthday present N ordered finally arrived. He wanted to get a canvas of the dog and it turned out quite nicely with the frame. At the moment it’s just in the kitchen above the aga, so it’ll get used to seeing her there. I mostly did chores, had to nip into town, although I did get in some reading, and watched some of the ice skating too.

Blog posts this week:
Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Friends the musical parody show
- Euros Ice Skating
- A couple of really moving books – I did cry quite a bit at the end of one of them (my first Kristin Hannah book)
Things I’m grateful for:
- Orthodontist appointment working out as a later appointment.
- My car being washed by N (I did have to pay him, and as it required a second layer of snowfoam he even charged me a fiver extra!)
- Missing the parking warden this morning at the market place. Because it’s super shortstay, it’s ยฃ1.60 for 30 mins. But it takes longer to use the ticket machine, and not much less time to do Ringo, than it takes to visit the bakery stall and get back to the car. So I was happy to not see him around and just spend 1-2 minutes buying my bread while parked.

It sounds like you had a busy but nice week apart from the traffic issues. That is a shame the new dance class wasn’t that welcoming. The Traitors has been brilliant, I will be gutted when it ends next week.
That is a gorgeous gift for your OH! x
