London Eye and pavement reflections

Project 52 2026 week 3

Week 3 of Project 52 for this year has been a bit of a miserable one weatherwise. A lot of rain (our front door is just getting harder and harder to open and shut thanks to the wet), and pretty miserable. But there’s been some nice moments this week. Plus much needed payday! Here’s my week.

Sunday – had a longer time reading in bed than usual. Had to get petrol, then back home for more washing and dishwasher unloading. It feels never-ending at the moment! After prepping the roast, and having lunch, I caught up on the Euros ice skating. Bring on the Olympics next month.

Monday – dreary misty rainy day. Work was super quiet with not many calls. Did a bit of photo editing after tea, and a bit of blogging. But otherwise was just caught up reading my current book.

Tuesday – work, then I went to Milton Keynes to see the play Dear England, about Gareth Southgate turning around the England mens football team.  If you get the chance to see it on tour, do. I thought it was excellent, and I did have a bit of a tear in a couple of bits.

Wednesday – N’s birthday and I had to be in London for work. I got away at a good time, and thought I’d managed to make better time than planned to get the earlier train, but just missed it by 2 minutes. Got the next, but the hell that is the car park exit at the train station alongside roadworks at the main town centre crossroads with traffic lights from our exit side only ever going green when the roadwork traffic lights were on red, meant it was one car out at a time from 2 roads, so I got home an hour later.

They’d gone and got takeaway pizza so I had to scavenge their leftovers as they didn’t think to get me any. He’d said he didn’t want a birthday cake, but I got him a berry Lola’s cupcake from the stall at Marylebone and he liked that a lot.

Thursday – busy work day. After work I went dancing. My ankle was quite painful – I think I must have a bit of tendonitis in it as I occasionally get a twinge. It’s what stopped me dancing just before Covid happened. I did the class fine, but I’m going to have to strap it up sometimes and see if that helps, and maybe do some exercises to strengthen it more. Frustrating. The class was nice and full, as well as 4 regulars not being there.

Friday – quiet day at work, although seems like we ticked off a few things to progress which is good. N had tennis in the evening, even though the weather wasn’t great. I take my Kindle and read in the car, but it was chilly even with an extra thick coat layered over me while I waited.

Saturday – decided to strap my ankle up and apart from going shopping in the morning for a few bits, tried to stay off it when at home. I need to get a footstool for the living room really then I can stick it up too. Listened to a bit of country music too, although didn’t practice my dancing. I really need to after 2 weeks of missing the intermediate class, but wanted to rest my ankle. Otherwise just got through a lot of washing, folding, and cooking.

London Eye and pavement reflections

New posts this week:

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • The Traitors final. Nail-biting and I’m so glad Rachel and Stephen won.
  • Dear England – brilliant play
  • Lovely to have daffodils in the house again.

Things I’m grateful for this week:

  • N liked his cupcake.
  • Nice easy journey home from the theatre – always faster than the slow busy commuter traffic on the way there.
  • Managing to fit in a lot of reading time

  1. Love the photo of the London Eye in the rain, but geez I’ve had enough of this wet weather now. I used to read and study in the car when the boys had sporting activities, I sort of miss it, it was my time of peace away from the house, but so cold in the winter, I used to keep a duvet in the car.

  2. You read a lot! I’ve seen on Goodreads you have already read 34 books, I’m in awe, I have just about managed 6 (a bit slow for me this month).
Sorry to hear about your ankle, hope it gets better.
It has been a very wet week. Our front door is a bit temperamental too in such weather.
Happy belated birthday to N! Glad he enjoyed his cupcake.

    1. I do read a lot, but so far it’s been lots of easy fast to read romances, I need to get more into my more literature books as they take longer to read and take in. But I can’t turn down free books, and romance authors always do a free stash your kindle day post Christmas, so I stock up then.

  3. I think we’ve got off fairly lightly with the rain here compared to some parts of the country. Hope you’ve not had too much flooding where you are. What a shame you missed out on takeaway pizza for N’s birthday. Hope he had a nice day. Hope your ankle is better soon. Lovely photo of the London Eye reflected on the wet pavement. I loved The Traitors final and was happy that Rachel and Stephen won too. #project365

  4. Belated happy birthday to N. Both our boys had birthdays this week. I bought mine two cakes, one that he would like and one that the rest of the fussy family would like. Dear England wasn’t on my radar for plays but it seems you really enjoyed it. I hope your ankle recovers soon.

  5. Happy birthday to N. His cupcake sounded nice.
I hope your ankle is feeling better so you don’t have to miss any dancing.
The Traitors was great, wasn’t it? We were on the edge of our seats and cheered when the Traitors won.

  6. It has been a wet week! Our garage door is the same, it always gets hard to open and close at this time of year.
Happy birthday to N and I hope your ankle is feeling better now. It sounds like a good week, despite all of the rain!
