Project 52 2026 week 8
Whoop, it almost felt like Spring this week. A couple of blue sky no rain days, milder temperatures, and I can’t believe there’s blossom on trees already. It feels very early compared with normal, but I suppose we’re nearly in March. Here’s what’s been going on in week 8 of project 52.
Sunday – fairly relaxing day. Went to the retail park to pick up some jeans for N I’d ordered, and while there picked up my free hot drink from Greggs through Confused.com thanks to buying my car insurance via them. Glad to also find my £20 giftcard of choice in the app too, so a bit of a bonus day.
Monday – back to work. It’s always hard to get back into things, even after only 3 days off. Otherwise not much else going on.
Tuesday – work and school as usual. Headed off dancing in the evening to find the road from the other side of the village was closed out to the main road. So a nice detour along different backroads on the way, and having to remember to take an earlier junction and road home on the way back.
Wednesday – we weren’t sure if the bus would detour into the village. It wasn’t tracking on the app in the morning, and none of N’s friends who come in on the bus from town were on the bus that day to let him know. So I hung around at the bus stop, but we ended up giving up waiting and taking him (and the other 2 kids we know waiting) to the next village instead just in case. It turned out the bus did come through as normal, but it’s frustrating when the app tracker never works properly.
In the office for work, then off dancing afterwards. I did both the improver and the intermediate/advanced class, although didn’t dance much of the later class because I didn’t know many of the ‘just going straight into them’ dances, and my legs were feeling really tired.
Thursday – in the office for an unheard of second day in the week. Of course the bus was a screw up. His friend was told by someone at the bus station in town that the bus wasn’t running, so texted N thankfully. The live bus times were still showing as normal, but after waiting a while, I had to take him into school. Because our bus is so early, there’s never any cancellation updates on twitter, so we’re always reliant on other kids who get on the bus earlier.
Luckily I still had time to drop him off, get back home, empty the dishwasher, put washing on, make my lunch, and then get to the office. I’d ordered a Too Good to Go Bag for after work, but it was cancelled as they had no waste. Instead I filled up with petrol, then off to dancing. Yet more new people turned up which is great. But it was a bit cramped in some rows, and there were another 9 or 10 regulars who weren’t there!
Friday – no bus worries today thankfully. We had a chippy tea, then N had tennis for the first time in about 4 weeks thanks to rain and half term. There was only 2 of them. Hopefully come summer there’ll be more people joining back in. I finished Bridgerton, it was so good and I did cry quite a bit through all the poignant bits.
Saturday – no plans so just a trip to the bakery, and to buy meat for a roast. I went back and watched the post credits bit of Bridgerton I’d missed, chatted to my brother when he popped in, and caught up on my next book I’m reading.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Bridgerton – swoon, I just love the show (and the books). I guess that’s my Libran ‘romantic’ side coming out.
- Reading a John Grisham book after lots of romance books. He has a lot of critics saying they’re not brilliant books, but reading should be about enjoyment. And you can still learn a lot from them about legal systems.
- Using my Christmas present ‘Le Creuset’ shallow casserole for a delicious one pan dish recipe.
Things I’m grateful for:
- Fast customer service responses when I mistakenly clicked on a subscription button when buying something new. I’m sure I clicked it off, but buying on my phone is such a faff when discounts appear, disappear, need to check shipping while trying to get the best deal. Luckily I managed to fix it but their customer service was very good.
- No pains when dancing this week (just aching muscles).
- A nice independent bakery which isn’t extortionately priced near us.

Those buses sound a flaff. I hate doing things on my phone, so easy to make mistakes. I know someone who made a house purchase on a phone and it ended up costing them 10’s of thousands more than they thought and they had to take out an additional loan because they weren’t able to read everything properly and hadn’t clicked all the links. Lovely seeing all the signs of spring around.
OMG what a nightmare. I’m definitely a desktop/laptop for most things other than a bit of social media.
The tulips and daffodils look lovely, both colourful reminders that spring is coming.
I’m going to rewatch the first series of Bridgerton, then continue with the rest of the series. I’ve been meaning to catch up on it for ages, so thanks for the reminder.
I hope N is having a better week with the buses.
That’s a good idea rewatching. I should probably do that myself at some point…but so little time, so many things on my watchlist!
So nice to see signs of Spring and have some blue skies and milder temperatures. How frustrating that the app tracker doesn’t work properly for N’s bus and you have to rely on the kids who get on the bus earlier. It’s good that the dance classes are so popular although not so nice if it gets too cramped. Lovely photo of the tulips and daffodils. #project365
Road closures and buses being either late or cancelled or just confusing. I can fully relate to this. Those tulips are gorgeous, I like the ones that have 2 colours. I haven’t watched Bridgerton, but I read the novels and I liked them. I think it’s nice that you watched the series, but read the novels as well, as I imagine there are some differences between them.
Yes, there’s a few differences, but mostly the show keeps to the gist of the books. Just Francesca’s story that’ll end up being very different. Not sure how that will work out for those who’ve read the books.
It really has felt like spring this week. I am loving the warmer weather.
Ugh to the closed roads. My youngest has had issues with the buses tracking for the last week or so, it’s so annoying!
I really enjoyed Bridgerton and ended up crying a few times.
What pretty flowers!
