Living Arrows 2015 week 6 – Water Babies graduation
It was a big week this week…N graduated from his Water Babies swimming lessons. He had a great last week of swimming after swimming with them since he was 3.5 months old.
Ok, so he still can’t (more like won’t) swim more than a little way, and even that takes some encouragement. But he loves to be in the pool, will take part in all the activities, and this week was even swimming to the edge without turning back to cling onto me.
Hopefully he’ll take to his new lessons (where he’ll be going in the pool without me) well, and continue to progress.
I’ve also loved blogging for Water Babies over the past couple of years, and we’ve loved swimming with all of the teachers N’s had. Thanks to Tamsin and Lynsey for getting N through his water wobbles and more, and latterly Laura for making his day and teaching the children butterfly legs, which N now keeps trying each time he swims!
What a wonderful achievement! Such a proud mama moment
Thanks. It really was, and he’s been through a lot with his swimming, so I’m relieved he’s made it through.
I’m just pleased we managed to make it through given he’s been through so much with his swimming.
Very well done to him! No wonder you’re proud. Mastering even a few strokes at that age is quite an achievement! Impressed that’s he learned to do butterfly legs!
Thanks for linking with Loud ‘n’ Proud.
Well, his version of butterfly legs. Just needs to keep his legs together, then it might look more like standard butterfly rather than a dubious breast stroke!
That’s a lot to be proud of. Mine started swimming at 2yrs 9 mths so I have spent a lot of time at the pool and the first years are about water confidence – to actually swim (no matter how far) is a great achievement.
Yes, the main thing is trying to get N to like the water. We’ve got that now, but some things like going underwater he’ll do under duress but isn’t keen on compared with others who’ll happily swim for ages underwater.
I’d be proud of that too. Great work N! #loudnproud
Thanks John. I’m not sure he’s realised that swimming lessons are going to get a lot stricter now!
Ahhh bless looks like a natural in the water. Great capture. #livingarrows
Thanks Jenny. It was a bit of a fleeting photo – me jumping out of the pool to grab the camera while the next class got in.
Brilliant picture! He looks so pleased with himself 🙂 We did swimming from a few months old too, and one of my favourite things to do with him when he was little. It’s so wonderful watching them become so confident in the water 🙂 x
He was. Probably pleased to be with his teacher who he says is ‘pwoar’! Definitely a lovely activity to do with young children, as well as being important for the safety aspect.
