Birdies Crazy Golf at Angel London

I love a bit of crazy golf, and a recent work team social had us visiting Birdies Crazy Golf in Angel, London. How to dampen down my competitiveness in front of colleagues when usually I’m playing golf with my son!

Birdies have 2 locations to play indoor golf in London – in Battersea, and Angel Central Shopping Centre.

The Angel Birdies is nice and central so perfect for dropping in while shopping, or after work. They also had a ticketed cloakroom for bags which was handy for storing away all our work gear and bags.

We’d booked to play at a set time but were late. That didn’t seem to matter about the time as there were only us and another couple of groups (probably work colleagues as well).  We got drinks which was a bit of a wait for the number of us (and mine and another person’s was forgotten until we chased them), while we got ourselves organised.

Then it was onto the crazy golf.  There were 2 teams of 6 playing but it didn’t seem to take too long waiting. They set each group of people off with enough time inbetween, although out second group did catch us on a couple of holes.

The holes were lots of fun, and different to any crazy golf I’ve played before. There was a lot of cheering and jeering. I ended up having to play lefthanded for some holes thanks to my dodgy position of the ball.

There was a real mix with each hole too.  Some had several options you could choose, others just a hard or easier option. We loved the Velocity where you could hit it up the vertical wall, but it was luck depending on whether it ended up going into the better tubing dumping the ball out right by the hole. Or it could end up going down a harder route further away.

Some of the holes were great photo opportunities too which some of us had a lot of fun with.

We could take our drinks around with us, although space was an issue for our big group. 4 would be a better number for moving around.

The 9th hole was a chance to lose or gain points. Luckily I ended up on the -4, so moved back into 2nd position in our team despite my shocking 8th hole.  I finished in 3rd overall, but only missing 2nd by 1 shot, so I was very happy with that being top woman.

Most of us didn’t hang around afterwards because we had trains to catch home. But Birdies do also serve limited food options as well as all the cocktails and drinks choices.

For the £13 we paid to play, I didn’t think it was too bad for London prices (it’s been a while since I’ve played crazy golf, so not sure on prices elsewhere currently). Only having 8 holes did seem short but because there were 6 of us playing together it did mean it took longer than if it was only 2 of us. If that had been the case we’d have whizzed round and it wouldn’t have felt like such good value.

If you’re in the area and want to try out crazy golf, then Birdies crazy golf is worth an hour.
