Project 52 2024 week 29

This week’s been the last week of school, that’s Year 8 done and dusted, and even N thinks the year has gone fast. So it’s not just me! Worrying really, given as a child I used to feel like we had all the time in the world. Anyway, here’s how my week 29 for Project 52 went.

Sunday – the day England got beaten in another Euros final. Considering their performance in the rest of the tournament, they held off Spain better than I expected. Spain had the double with Alcaraz whopping Djokovic in the Wimbledon men’s final.

Monday – day in the office as we had a new starter in the wider team. Had panicked messages from the OH because N had messaged to be picked up from school instead of the bus stop. So I had to ring school so they could check in that he was ok. All was fine, he just thought the message he sent was normal.

Tuesday – after work I went off to school to help do the PTSA refreshments for the ‘say goodbye to the school’ event, as they’re pulling it down over the summer now the new building is up. It was a really popular event, and we were super busy, making a really good profit for the PTSA and school.

Wednesday – N dragged me out into the garden after tea to kick some footballs at him in goal. Not that he’s a goalie. He should be the one kicking at me.  Only one of their team from last season isn’t coming back, and 1 still to answer. Plus they’ve got others interested so they’ll be doing trials. N’s planning on doing some fitness stuff over the next week given they’ve not played for ages, and will be hoping that, his work ethic, and improvement made last year will get him a spot.

Thursday – last day of school, and because they finished a day early, start a day later, plus have a staggered start due to them all being back into a new school, N has 7 weeks off. He finished at lunch time, and he was on Nandos marinaded BBQ chicken duty for dinner. I did the wedges in the air fryer. I do like summer-y dishes, but do run out of ideas for the OH as it still needs to be substantial.

Friday – first day of the summer holidays and N was out on the farm for most of the morning. He was suffering with hayfever badly though, and then said it was just too hot outside. Lucky for me being able to work in the nice cool backroom.

Saturday – such a muggy day, and the rain didn’t really arrive with any power or coolness. I had a long trip around various places in town getting bits I needed. That took up nearly the whole morning. Then took N for a haircut in the afternoon. He wasn’t very impressed with the way she’d taken off more on top, but then he asked for a messy fringe, not ‘keep it longer on top’ which I’d have said was more accurate. Oops. At least it’ll be cool for the summer.

New posts this week:

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • A couple of good psychological thriller books
  • Being in the office, it’s always nice to see people face to face.
  • Sausage casserole – they just have sausage and mash, but it’s nice for me to have something different.

Things I’m grateful for:

  • Having a nice cool stone house and spot to work in when the weather was super hot.
  • Ice creams on offer.
  • A teen who likes to cook.

  1. It’s good N likes to cook otherwise it would be a palvour cooking 3 separate meals for you all most evenings. I hope N enjoys his long summer holidays.

  2. This whole past year has flown over, I thought it was just with my youngest having her first year at college but it’s whizzed by!
I would have loved England to win the Euros but after the way they had been playing I imagined the final score being about 5-1 to Spain so they did do well.
The schools here still have a couple of days left so how lovely that N has finished so early.
I was so bad with hay fever on Friday and it being so hot didn’t help, it’s like there was no air. x
