Project 52 2024 week 30

It’s been a fairly busy week, some quite warm weather, and yay, the start of the Paris Olympics. By the sounds of things, I was lucky not to watch the opening ceremony. Here’s our week of Project 52 for week 30.

Sunday – another day that was still warm and muggy, and by the evening was quite hot. N was out on the farm and played football with his cousin. I managed to get him some school socks, and attempted to find new bras as my last M&S ones have had the straps coming away on one side, so haven’t lasted very well. They’re also too short straps really, even when loosened fully. I hate buying them as I struggle to find ones that fit now I’m heavier.

Monday – N’s basically spending his holiday so far either out on the farm or practising shooting. He debreasted a pigeon to cook it which he really likes eating. I was working.

Tuesday – ended up with an evening trip to the supermarket so N could stock up on the food he was planning to cook for the next 2 evenings. Always handy when I’m in the office because I don’t tend to need to cook.

Wednesday – a day in the office for me. It was pretty quiet being prime holiday time. Got home to find N was still out in the fields.

Thursday – another day in the office. I don’t think I’ve been in 2 days on the trot since pre-Covid. I hadn’t realised they’d be out at a shooting lesson, despite N wanting to cook tea. I’d managed to put the dishwasher on before work, and the washing machine. But I arrived home to find both still full, with a pile of plates in the sink, glasses on the table, a frying pan that yet again was still full of grease even though it was ‘washed’ and put to drain. And I had to cook on top of that. After I’d eaten my tea I had to do the food shop as well. As usual, the mum has to do everything without any thanks, apology for being late, or not telling me when they’d be back for tea.

Friday – busy work day trying to get things set up ahead of me being on leave the following week. N had the last session helping out with the mini red tennis group, then was back for his lesson afterwards. We’re not sure if it’ll continue in September. All the younger coaches have gone to uni/work over the years so no longer available, this coach will go in September. The owner of the company tends to just do privates. I think the club could easily get another coach from elsewhere who’s been taking over all the surrounding clubs, but I’m not sure if N will want to continue after that which would be a shame. He’d only continue if all his friends were too.

Saturday – the sports I enjoy in the Paris Olympics (tbh that’s most of them I’d watch) have started, so I’ve been trying to catch up with some of it. I’ve even paid for a month subscription to Discovery+ so I can see everything instead of the limited efforts the BBC are allowed to show.

We also went to the Game Fair at Blenheim Palace. N really wanted to go although I’m not fussed, but it’s been a while since we’ve been to a day out event together. It was a bit hot for me (only 22C supposedly but it always feels hotter with all the people. Thankfully most stands were open from 8.10 when we arrived, although they weren’t meant to til 9, so it was nice and empty for a bit. N bought some clothing things (and me for him), a membership with lots of freebies which was good, and had a clay shooting lesson. It’s the first time I’ve seen him properly clay shooting, and once he’d got used to the different gun/weight, he was hitting everything from about halfway through.

No new posts this week.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • The start of the Olympics. I just love watching so many of the sports.
  • Being in the office – and I had a lovely appreciative message just before I finished for leave as well
  • Being out for the day with N.

Things I’m grateful for:

  • Payday just in time for the holidays.
  • No rain for our day out
  • Being able to finish work on time a couple of days this week.

  1. How frustrating to come home to all that mess in the kitchen, it’s the one thing that irritates me the most and causes 90% of the arguments in our home. I’ve loved watching the Olympics, it’s something I enjoy every 4 years, sadly I can’t view them here in Turkey and I’m relying on YouTube clips usually 8 hours after the event.

  2. It has been very hot and muggy although nice to have the sunshine. It’s great that N enjoys cooking so much. Frustrating though to come back to the full washing machine and dishwasher and all the washing up. Sounds like you had a nice day out with N at Blenheim Palace. #project365
