Project 52 2025 week 35
It’s been a good week if tiring and rapidly approaching the end of the school holidays. I’m writing this on Sunday to make a change, and wow even my eyes are aching. Here’s what I’ve been up to for week 35 of Project 52.
Sunday – had to get compost for N’s planting ambitions, plus a few other bits to get in town. Thankfully the shops’ opening times worked out well, and they weren’t too busy so it didn’t take long. Also bumped into one of his football friends’ parents for a quick chat. Rest of the day was catching up on blogging, cooking a roast, and whitening my dance shoes – using the old white polish/paint stuff like we used to use when we were kids.
Monday – bank holiday. It was much needed that extra day of the weekend, although I didn’t do much. N planted his strawberry root plants in a sheep trough.
Tuesday – went to pick up N’s suit for the wedding at lunchtime, but it hadn’t arrived into the hire shop yet. They offered to drop it off to me at work the next day which was amazing service. They also gave me a £5 discount because I work with one of the guy’s friends, and the former CEO used to shop there. Love a local independent shop!
Wednesday – back in the office. Suit was dropped off – such good service. Then straight off to the theatre to see Blood Brothers. My second time of seeing it, about 20 years since the first time. It was just as good as I remember, and I cried a bit at the final song again as usual. It was a late night home thanks to HS2 overnight road closures, and then HS2 multiple traffic lights on my alternative route home.
Thursday – day off. I’d taken a couple of days off to help out prep for the nephew’s wedding if they needed help. But in the end it was just a hair cut for N (the woman who cuts his hair at the barber’s always says how nice it is to have a boy his age actually chat instead of grunt!), quick nip into town for a couple of bits, then my Tesco shop in the afternoon. Chatted to my neighbour for a bit too. And shooed the neighbour’s dog off back down the road to theirs – he likes to turn up and just bark at the gate at our dogs (and vice versa). Dancing was hotter than expected as the teacher thought it was cooler, so hadn’t put the fans out.
Friday – another day off. Final shop for a pashmina and bag to go with my outfit for the wedding as I realised my pashminas probably wouldn’t go with my dress, and it might be too cool without, then ended up having to get other bits for the OH – picked up socks without checking the size and they ended up too small. Oops. Dropped off some screwdrivers up to the marquee, so had a bit of a nosy at it which looked amazing. N and his cousin were helping out with building stands, so N’s been loving it as this will be the first wedding he’s been to. I caught up with some films (Christmas ones I recorded way back).
Saturday – nephew no. 3’s wedding. 10am had me on an emergency fruit for the Pimms shop in Tesco. The weather just about held off til arrival, ceremony inside the marquee, and photos. A shame after all the good weather before this week. They’d done a great job organising it with some amazing touches including singing waiters. So much fun, and lovely to see the first of that generation in the family get married. A long day, but we did a lot of laughing, dancing, and catching up with lots of people.

New posts this week:
Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Nephew’s wedding and seeing both N and the OH dragged onto the dancefloor by the bride (N looked terrified).
- Blood Brothers – such a great musical
- Catching up with friends I’ve not seen for ages
Things I’m grateful for this week:
- flip flops being the norm to change into for the reception at weddings (and N going out to the car to get them for me)
- Discounts and helpful local shops
- Finding suitable bag and shawl for the wedding. We might not have many shops left in our town, but they came up trumps for me.
The flower arrangement at the wedding looks so beautiful. I love how simple and elegant it is. It sounds like the wedding was really lovely too.
That’s a great service from the local shop! Good luck to N with all the planting. Glad you enjoyed the musical, and found all the necessary bits for the wedding.
The wedding sounds fun, with the singing waiters. Did N enjoy dancing in the end?
Glad the weather held off for your nephews wedding until you got to the marquee. Sounds like a good week and nice to be asked to help out even if it was all last minute.
Good luck to N with the planting.
That was great of the hire shop to drop off the suit, really good service!
Congrats to your nephew and his other half. It sounds like a lovely wedding. x
