Recently we’ve sold our mum’s house, and have been enjoying reminiscing about all the old toys from the 80s that we found in the roof.  There’s nothing like retro toys to give you a warm fuzzy feeling, and make you think of those carefree childhood days.

One of the boxes had my old My Little Ponies in.  I used to love playing with these in the grooming parlour I had (no idea where that went to though).  My friend and I used to sew outfits for them out of scraps of material, and I even saved up tokens to get a free baby pony.  N wasn’t a fan, so the box got taken round to a friend’s little girl.  Hopefully she’s enjoying them like I did.

I’d not come across much of the recent My Little Pony iterations, although now I’m in the toy market buying presents for young children, I see them around in toy stores and on tv.  I’m amazed at how they’re still popular, but they’ve obviously got that special something that young children love.

I usually have more boyish DVD giveaways on the blog, but this time I’ve got a treat for all those My Little Pony fans.

The latest dvd and digital release My Little Pony: Putting your Hoof Down, which is released on 6th July.  Featuring Fluttershy who is sick of being pushed around by others, she takes an assertiveness course.  However all doesn’t go well when concerned friends Rarity and Pinkie Pie worry about her recent behaviour and she hides herself away in her cottage.  There’s a great message about having a time and place for being self-assured; that it doesn’t have to involve being bossy and mean to others.  She has to learn quickly when her tutor Iron Will turns up demanding payment for the course and his services.

  108. Missy TipToe Canterdown (I have a medical condition which means I walk on my tiptoes instead like “normal” people – so it was a bit of fun aimed at that). Had since I learnt to walk and now at 44 can have a laugh about it. 🙂
