Project 52 2024 week 34

This week 34 has been quite a dull one. Mainly work, harvest for the men, the rain and colder weather came in. Here’s our week for project 52.

Sunday – another busy one for lots of rushed jobs to get done. Euros collected. A failed attempt to get a new wiper blade – turns out this car has complicated connectors so I may need to go to the dealer – which is very annoying seeing as the nearest one is a 30 mile round trip. I’ll be ringing round places more locally on Monday. I should have booked my car in for service this week instead of September, then I could have got the new wiper earlier. I also picked up a new small day rucksack as our little one seems to have disappeared.

Monday – just a normal work day. Chatted to next door for a bit, but otherwise a fairly chilled out work day and evening. Tried to do some more planning for holiday. It feels like there’s a lot to organise. I’m just hoping there’s enough time to see stuff in each place, and that spontaneity works ok.

Tuesday – an office day. Being holiday time it was really quiet, but got a few bits done speaking to people face to face. Managed to get my wiper blades – and now I know a good place to go for any car parts. They wanted fish and chips after work, but it seems that most are on holidays so closed. Tried 2 in town, one in my childhood village, then ended up driving way back out to our normal one, which thankfully I could get to as the road was supposedly shut. So it was a very long commute home.

Wednesday – not a lot went on apart from football training. Had a good chat to one of the dads and then a mum. The new boy turned up finally, N thinks he could be useful given that one of the players who’s been in the team from the start has sadly decided to leave. N’s gutted though because the only pre-season friendly they’ve got, we’re away for. And it’s being played on the opposing team’s adult stadium pitch under lights, with stands for parents to watch. And they’re doing food after for them!  Bit of a shame he’ll miss that experience.

Thursday – had to make some fantasy football decisions, whether to bring back in my potentially injured player, or to leave him out this week.

Friday – busy day of work before signing off for leave. Spent the day trying to dry clothes without them blowing away in the wind. And quite a bit of time panicking because I couldn’t find our new Global HIC cards. Thankfully they were where I thought, I just missed them because I thought they were in an envelope.

Saturday – quick shop in the morning over in another town. Only went there because I wanted knickers as Asda are the only shop that still does the ones that I like (none of the other supermarkets or M&S do the proper non VPL ones anymore), but they didn’t have my size. Boo. Quick Starbucks late breakfast (including a pumpkin spice frappucino) as we’d both gone out before getting chance to have any.  Largely miserable and colder day which isn’t great ahead of holiday time. We’ve realised that N’s suitcase probably isn’t big enough but it’s a bit late now to try and get a new one.

This week’s photo is N’s teddy bear, which has somehow found its way downstairs.

New posts this week:

Things I’m grateful for:

  • Last working day before a week and a half off.
  • Finding the time to quickly do 3 videos on Capcut to clear out my photos on my phone.
  • Packing cubes that compress (although N isn’t convinced).

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • Annoying N about fantasy football. Looks like my 2nd place from last week will be plummeting given what the current status of matches are looking like.
  • Celebrity Race Across the World – I love it, and how different the pairings are. Kelly Brook just wants the beach, her husband is super competitive. And Scott Miles not wanting to go on a night bus, and being dragged on for 17 hours of hell with an awful blocked toilet on board.
  • My dahlias have lasted quite well – 3 of them are still looking ok 6 days later.

  1. I’ve been enjoying Celebrity Race Across the World. I’m routing for Jeff and Freddie. Nice to have a quieter week. Sounds a fluff getting fish and chips, glad you found somewhere in the end. Shame about the pre-season friendly. hope N’s suitcase was big enough int he end.

  2. I am glad you have got the wiper blades for your care. It saves the long trip.
I hope the planning for the holiday is going well.
Oh no! That is a shame that N is missing the football match, it sounds like it’s going to be a good one.
Aww! What an adorable teddy. x

  3. How annoying that you couldn’t get a wiper blade to fit. I have brought some new underwear from Matalan this week but, like you, I have my faves and these just don’t cut it
