Project 52 2024 week 36
After such a nice week on holiday last week, this week was tough as I’ve had a pretty bad cold. Oh no, turned out to be Covid, so that was a nice present brought home from holidays. Here’s my week 36 for Project 52.
Sunday – it was a long slog coming home. The ferry was delayed, but we still didn’t really have time either end to go somewhere before waiting for the ferry as the timings kept changing. Thankfully it only ended up being delayed 90 minutes, but it was a long slog. We got home at 11.30pm after a bit of a detour via Coventry thanks to our junction off the M42 being closed. Came home to a pile of the OH’s clothes – would have been nice if he’d done his own washing before we were back so we could put our loads on. Oh, and a still to be washed dishwasher, and full bin.
Monday – woke feeling really rough. Turns out the tickle in my throat was a full on cold. I needed to do a food shop, then N wanted some compost to plant some acorns, but I managed to have a bit of a nap in the afternoon. I also had the theatre in the evening to see & Juliet. I stocked up on Halls Soothers and water, and avoided breathing over everyone. It was a great show, and a chance to enjoy lots of 90s songs.
Tuesday – felt a bit better, just the tickly throat needing to be cleared and runny nose. Tried to nap a bit, did some blogging and watched some tv shows I’d recorded. A waste of my final day off work really.
Wednesday – first day back working and a day of meetings. N had a friendly football match before the season starts, against their club’s team a year below them. Ours wapped them so much, they had to gradually work their way down to 8 players, and even then it was way too one sided. Hopefully their season goes better, in a similar way that ours did when we got badly beaten in one of our friendlies last summer. Nice confident start for our team though.
Thursday – not much going on, just work. Start to organise my next theatre trip in a couple of weeks time with friends. Still feeling coldy. It’s great by afternoon as the nose clears, but blocked up morning and evening. It feels like autumn so I’ve been having soup for lunch. N’s first day back at school and into Year 9. Bus nightmares as they’ve pulled a later bus that goes to the college, so they’re all coming on our earlier bus instead. It’s moved to a double decker in the morning, but was rammed. It turns out they’d not allowed for the fact that lots of people got into the grammar school 6th form, so they’re all on our bus too. The return journey was bizarrely only a single decker despite last year it being so.
Friday – turns out I’ve actually got covid as N made me do a test. Urgh. I’d escaped it all this time. Even though I’ve largely been keeping to the back room and out of the way anyway, I’ve been banned from going in the other room or moving around the house (cheeky given the OH didn’t stay out of anyone’s way when he had it). Shame, as if I’d known before I’d have got away with not cooking all this week! I was meant to be taking N to Moreton Show on Saturday, but the OH’s going to take him instead. The first time in years actually taking some time off work for leisure.
Saturday – can breathe through my nose again which is nice. They went to Moreton Show after N decided to antibac anything I may have touched. I came downstairs after they left to find all the doors wide open to air all the germs out. Obviously the dishwasher hadn’t been put on so I did that. They’ll have to empty it later if they want to eat off plates.
Went out in the garden for a bit to have a look at my flowers that have finally come up. I planted random leftover seeds I found in a drawer in the border N and I dug out. Hopefully more will come up and repeat next year too. They look a little wild, but nice to see some colour amongst the autumnal dew webs on the grass.
New posts this week:
Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Seeing a new theatre show (sorry to those around me I might have spread Covid to without realising)
- Soup. I’m not a big soup fan but sometimes it just hits the mark.
- Routine with school being back, although earlier mornings aren’t so great.
- Seeing my flowers come up with no effort required.
Hope you’re feeling better now, shame about coming home from your trip to the washing, dishwasher and bins. I have to leave a list for my OH or he just doesn’t see it, but if I leave just one thing out of place there’s a whole days worth of complaint from him about it, typical.
Sorry to hear that your cold turned out to be Covid. Hope you are feeling better now. Glad you enjoyed seeing & Juliet. Well done to N and his team on winning their friendly. The flowers in your garden look pretty. #project365
Oh no! I hope you feel better soon!
Ugh! What a rough trip home.
I wouldn’t say Tuesday was a waste, after being away and not feeling great you deserved a rest day.
How is N in year 9 already! Time really does fly! The buses are stupid! Last year there used to be 3 buses for the schools and colleges here but they pulled one and they are rammed full. x
Argh, buses are the bane of my life. Just at N’s village stop, 3 extra kids are getting on, all who used to go to a totally diff bus/school, but got into the grammar for 6th form, and lots from town got into the boys grammar for 6th form too. So even without cancelling the later bus which carried 2 schools/college, there were already about 15 extra kids using the bus for the existing 2 schools. Nightmare.
