Christmas tree gold and metallics 2024

Project 52 2024 week 50

Week 50 of Project 52! Nearly the end of the year and I’ll need to decide if I’ll continue next year. I say this every year, and I still like doing this. After all, blogging for me started to journal goings on for us. Here’s my week of goings on.

Sunday – Storm Darragh carried on overnight although seemed a lot less windy on Sunday. N was out helping a local gamekeeper then out on the farm with his dad. I stayed in the warm and made flapjacks so they’ve got some pudding after dinner and snacks for the week. Then wrote Christmas cards while watching a Christmas movie.  Poor week on Fantasy Football yesterday so hoping the remaining matches for my players have better luck.

Monday – all quiet on the storm front, so a nice night’s sleep. Productive day – managed to get 2 Christmas parcels wrapped and booked in before work, had my flu jab, dropped the parcels off, picked up N’s laptop from the repair place, and worked. So all very successful. It’s always good ticking things off, although didn’t manage to buy stamps.

Tuesday – in the office for various team meetings. Was lovely to meet all the new team together, and chat to some different people. It was lovely to drive back through town after dark and seeing all the Christmas lights outside people’s houses.

Wednesday – I finally finished writing notes in my Christmas cards, and got them posted. The post office has some lovely Christmas gifts, but I didn’t need anything. Otherwise just a normal work and school day. Football training in the evening, they’ll go pretty much through the holiday, only missing 1 week.

Thursday – N’s decided he’s setting up a car washing business, so he tried out his equipment and detergents etc he invested in. He needs to do quite a few cars to actually break even, although I did buy some of it as a gift for him. He did a good job, although ended in darkness so had missed one bit despite his headtorch. Shame I needed to drive it the next morning before it was light enough to take photos.

Friday – OH was out for the day, so N had requested chilli con carne for dinner. After work and school we decided to put the Christmas tree up. N decided we needed to go less is more, which is very unusual for me because I like to put on lots of baubles usually. But we do have 750 lights, and it does still look really lovely. I’ve gone metallic only, got rid of the purple and peacock blue. I might try and sell those on because the old baubles are gorgeous ones not cheapy baubles.

Saturday – busy day.  I had an early hair appointment to find the prices have gone up again! It’s now £68, and I stretch it out to 12 weeks. I do have a cut and blow dry with one of the senior people, but I’ve gone all over the place and finally found someone I like who listens, advises and cuts nicely. But then N’s works out as over £60 in the same time as he has his cut every 4 weeks pretty much. Then I needed to visit various places to pick up bits for N (buckets which were missing from everywhere except 1 left in B&M), the country store for a shooting shirt for him, Tesco, the bakery and butchers.  Then he had a hair appointment in the afternoon. So it’ll have to be a fast and easy tea, then I’ll sit down and go through my Christmas Radio Times.

  1. Love the tree. I’ve added more decorations to ours this year and now have 4 trees around the house. I just don’t bother getting my hair cut anymore, too traumatic. Lovely that you add a note in the Christmas card, I do that too. I wonder why people bother sending a card if they can’t be bothered to write a message as well.

  2. Staying in the warm and making flapjacks during the storm sounded like a good plan. Love the Christmas tree. Good luck to N with his car washing business. £68 for a haircut sounds like a lot! I get mine done by a friend who is a mobile hairdresser and it’s much cheaper but it is good to find a hairdresser you like and trust. Well done on winning a gift card in an Advent competition. #project365

  3. It sounds like you had a productive week, ticking lots off your to do list.
Good luck to N with the car washing business!
Eek! Hair cuts are so expensive. I do my own so had no idea how much one costs.
Your tree looks so pretty. x

    1. We do the OH’s hair at home. I do go to an award winning salon now, but after trying 7 different people in different places after leaving mine I’d had for years – wish I hadn’t left now, although they’ve moved/left now), I’d tried 3 in this place (2 left to go elsewhere, and one I wasn’t keen on), before finding this one. It’s a nightmare.
