Project 52 2025 week 36
Well, autumn’s definitely here. Mornings are a bit misty, it’s dark earlyish evenings, and we’ve had quite a bit of rain this week. Here’s week 36 for Project 52.
Sunday – recovery day after the wedding. My eyes were so tired all day, I think a combination of the late night, long day, and smoke machine at points didn’t help. Did cook a roast though which was very nice, although went lazy with a shop bought sticky toffee pudding for dessert.
Monday – day off so went to take N’s hire suit back only to find they don’t open on Mondays. Argh. But only realised after I’d paid for parking. Wasted money as I didn’t need anything in town itself. Headed out to the retail park to switch a pack of socks I’d bought for the OH in the wrong size, and grab some last minute stationery bits that might be helpful for N.
Tuesday – panic about where his school blazer was while I was at dancing as N couldn’t find it. He said his 34 inch one I bought for last year was still way too big, and wanted his old 31 inch one he’d worn for 3 years which is ripped and way too small. So at 10pm I was trying to order a 33 inch (which they’d removed from the range when I wanted it before), and a 32 just in case.
Wednesday – electricity people were booked to come out and change our meter (at their request). Unknown to us they cancelled it, so I wasn’t very impressed as I’d have gone into the office instead. First day back to school (the bigger blazer was a good fit, just bigger than he’s used to), and into Year 10 for N. He was a bit flummoxed at how he’d been put into top set for English (tbh, I’m quite surprised myself given he rarely reads and it’s really not near his best subjects). Tried to cancel my blazer order so I could order a spare 34 size. Turned out only one was on preorder, not both like it said on the website, so I’d have to just return it once it arrived.
Thursday – in the office today. Nice to see a couple of different faces in to speak to. After work I did a ‘quick’ nip to M&S to check if their new loafers in fitted me (didn’t have the half size I needed in the wide and the size 6 standard was miles too big). The traffic around town is so backed up in all directions, it’s mad that I don’t have time to do anything else before heading out of town to dancing for 7.
Friday – short working day. Quick dinner, then back to tennis lessons for N. They had a different coach due to the normal one being on holiday – super tall even compared to our 14 year olds, vs the normal coach who’s shorter than me!
Saturday – I had debated going to a local agricultural show, but N had other things he wanted to do. So quick nip into town that ended up taking longer as everywhere I needed had long queues. Dropped some lunch off for the OH in the field, then back to make a crumble using last year’s apples from the freezer and this year’s blackberries.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Back to normality with school starting again.
- Reading a Cecilia Ahern book about someone about to see people’s colours
- Dancing and chatting to some different people
Things I’m grateful for this week:
- That we didn’t get too much of a storm, although the grass is looking very green again after a couple of days of rain.
- Kindle unlimited 3 months free – neverending books. Bliss
- Slightly cooler weather (although it was still super hot at dancing)
It really has felt like Autumn this week.
Ahh! It wouldn’t be back to school time without some uniform drama. Good luck to N for the school year. x
