Project 52 2025 week 39
It’s been a frustrating week, but thankfully the weekend will get things back to normal. I’ve booked a dance weekender next September so I can get a single room as they get snapped up fast, and have concert tickets for next year booked too. So not too bad a week. Here’s week 39 of Project 52.
Sunday – I went to my first line dance workshop. It was a bit odd as I’d expected an hour learning each dance, then break for lunch and small breaks between. Instead it was probably 2.5 hours of learning and 4 hours of social. Of which I knew only 2 dances on the list. Comms was pretty poor about that, and 2 people I met, left during the second taught dance. One was a beginner with no experience (bizarre that the organiser didn’t tell her it was for intermediate level), and another with only a small amount. So, I think I need to take friends along, so we can put in our dance requests too.
Monday – normal school and work day, although more calls with school about the saga from the previous week. In the evening there was nearby barking and we found the dog had escaped the kennel and was waiting outside our door. She’s not a house dog, but made herself quite at home on a blanket by the fireplace with N. Then of course it was hard to get her out again.
Tuesday – work in the office, then straight off to dancing afterwards. N sent me over a video of the dog who’d escaped again out of the electric fenced garden and was hiding out in one of the barns. Evidently she’d been spooked by an ambulance going past. We don’t hear many sirens near us, but surprising they had sirens on empty roads – in the dark you can see blue lights flashing around hedges for some way away, so the sirens feel a bit unnecessary given how quiet the roads are at night.
Wednesday – not much going on. Just work and school, dropping off more Vinted sales. More stuff has gone wrong on my blog – recipes seems to have disappeared from the plugin I use, so I’m guessing I’ll have to manually add them all just straight into the posts to avoid any further issues. Just more work when I was hoping my blog would largely just run as normal as it’s done for years with no issues. Cooked a really nice chicken and halloumi traybake for tea to no complaints from anyone. Result.
Thursday – for the first time ever I managed to get concert tickets – Take That tour for next year. I can’t believe it was so easy in the pre-sale (via no purchase necessary route). I entered the queue at just over 1000,and was in within 5 minutes. It was frustrating booking seats on my phone as I’d press one, then by the time I’d pressed for the next, they were gone. But got there in the end. A busy evening – finished work with an hour of flexi to go and help do PTSA refreshments at school’s Year 6 open evening. Then rushed off to dancing. For the first time in months I wasn’t sweating loads after the beginners class. Only got hot with about 20 minutes to go of improvers, after we did a really fast dance. That’s one benefit of cooler weather.
Friday – short work day, but then had to pick up N later from school, dropping off another parcel on the way, then back to cook a quick tea, then N’s tennis lesson. Had a chance to speak to one of the other mums I’ve not seen since summer. None of us sit and watch, we just mooch in cars, or drop off, so we don’t really get to see everyone like we used to. I’m definitely missing that, and football parent chats on the sidelines now N’s not playing.
Saturday – busy morning. I dropped off old clothes at the tip for recycling, bottles at the bottle bank on the way into town. Stopped at the market bakery stall, then back out via the farm shop for meat, and off to a community library that’s got a puzzle swap and was looking for donations. I dropped off about 15 puzzles – a couple that I’ve never got round to doing and probably won’t, as well as my completed Wasgij ones. Jigsaws don’t seem to be selling (probably not helped by postage prices being so high), so I felt good to just be donating them as well as clearing out. Then home to do the vacuuming, de-cobwebbing and dusting before lunch. Made a berry cobbler for pudding, then finally sat down for the afternoon.
Picture this week was of a wagtail in our garden. We always have a few around.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- learning new line dances and chatting ceroc to other dancers
- Donating to the community library (and decluttering quite a few bits)
- Seeing some extra money coming in on Vinted – I’ll put that towards Christmas.
Things I’m grateful for this week:
- Working fewer hours – kind of
- Being able to fit in everything on Thursday evening, it was a lot going on
- Payday coming in time for some bookings next year.
