Project 52 2025 week 8
It’s been a real mixed up week with weather although a fairly calm week. We’re back onto regular weekly football matches, unlike the start of the season where it was often only one a month. Fingers crossed we might see some better weather, rather than our sprouting flowers getting destroyed too much by the wind and rain. Here’s our week 8 for Project 52.
Sunday – met up with 2 school friends, one who’s just moved back nearby. We had brunch at a ‘farm’ restaurant, which was delicious. And so nice to have chance to catch up. Although we did have to make way for the lunch slot. The rest of the day was normal Sunday stuff, finished my jigsaw, checking in on the football (poor week with one of my forwards being injured and I’d not had chance to switch him which is frustrating for a double game week), getting through more of the ice skating. N did some car detailing rather than washing today, so hopefully he’s got some photos he can use for his advertising.
Monday – N was off out on the farm, while I went into the office. Caught up with a couple of people I’ve not seen for a while comparing teenage notes.
Tuesday – Worked from home, last day before some leave so it was fairly quite with others on holiday too. Line dancing in the evening, chatted to a different person today so am gradually meeting some more. Takes a while when it’s only one class, as there’s no hanging around inbetween lessons and no social dancing with partners so no rotation around a class meeting people. But it’s nice to meet different people.
Wednesday – there’s been some nightmare potential scamming going on so the whole family have been linking up to fix that thankfully. Took some photos of a couple of birds on our fence and spent 2 days asking around trying to work out what they were. Finally someone on Threads reckoned they were of the pipit variety, and it seems meadow pipit but really fluffed up against the cold. They’ve never popped up on the Merlin app, so maybe new to our area this year which is good as they seem fairly unusual to see.
There were a couple of new boys at football training this evening. They’ve come up from the team a year below to help out when we’re short of players for some of our rearranged matches. They seemed to fit in ok, and hopefully can score goals as that’s what we struggle with sometimes.
Thursday – bit of a lie in for N. Then we headed into Tesco to sort out his phone contract as it’ll go up in April otherwise. The website was down so that was a bit of a wasted visit. Went to the bank so he could put in a cheque from ages ago, then had a Costa treat where we bumped into some friends. Relaxing rest of the day as it was too miserable to do anything outside oriented.
Friday – had a bit of a lie in (well, reading), then a really lazy day, doing jigsaw, sorting the food shop, chatting and stroking the dog, reading, finishing (finally) watching the ice skating from the European Championships, listening to music. Plus doing 2 loads of washing and folding. I did emerge to pick up fish and chips for an end of my annual leave treat from cooking.
Saturday – lovely warm sunny day. Makes a change from the rest of the week. We had a rearranged home football match. One of the opponents used to go to nursery with N, so had a nice chat to his parents. Our team won, although it was tighter than we expected compared to our win at the start of the season. Also spent time trying to work out how I can fix my fantasy league team which is now looking very desperate.

New posts this week:
Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Chatting to another new person at line dancing. I’m really more of an introvert than extrovert, but at dancing you wouldn’t believe it. I’m all chat and meeting people.
- Trip into town with N. Might have been to do bits and pieces he needed to do, but fun times seeing him chatting about the farm and gamekeeping with the owner of the gun shop he has lessons from.
- Finishing off my Wasgij puzzle and starting another.
- A bit of time in the fresh air – with no rain and wind. Roll on spring.
Things I’m grateful for this week:
- Annual leave. I’ve had no specific plans and the weather’s been rubbish, but I’ve caught up on quite a lot of tv/films I’ve had recorded for ages, and sorted out some blogging. I’ve also seen my resting heart rate go down quite a lot with no extra exercise
- Seeing new birds – nice to work out what my bird picture was of, and enjoyed listening to some new birds appearing on the Merlin app this week (linnets this week). They might say farming destroys habitats, but it obviously doesn’t as much as they think given the massive mix of birds we see and hear around here in our farm’s hedgerows, fields and our gardens…and that’s with quite a lot of feral cats around too.
- A lovely warm sunny day to watch a football match.
Glad the weather was nice for the football and good to see some new birds around, did you find out what they were?
Worked it out as a pippit. Not one I’ve seen before.
Sounds like a nice week overall with having some time off even if the weather wasn’t so good. Nice to be back to regular weekly matches and well done to N’s team on their win. Lovely to chat to new people at dancing too. #project365
It sounds like you’ve had a nice week off, it’s good that you got to catch up with some old friends too.
Sorry to hear about the scamming, that sounds worrying I hope it gets sorted soon.
I love spotting birds especially this time of year, we have a lot of chaffinches and blackbirds around at the moment.
I’ve seen your post on Threads, but couldn’t help with the bird idenitification. It certainly is very cute.
Glad you met your friends for lunch, and got to know more people at the line dancing class.
The weather wasn’t the best, though we did have a couple of dry days. I miss doing puzzles, I found them so therapeutic.
How lovely to have a catch up with your friends and meet new people at line dancing.
It sounds like the weather with you hasn’t been great, it was quite warm here for the back end of the week.
Aww! What an adorable little bird. x
