Project 52 2024 week 39

This week’s been a relatively quiet one other than the stormy weather, but ended up very expensive. Here’s my week 39 for Project 52.

Sunday – sopping wet day all day, with a lot of rain. I had to go to the butchers/farm shop for meat, then to get some shampoo from discount stores that my hairdresser had recommended for N as he was saying his hair was feeling really dry. There’s lots of Christmas bits in B&M and Home Bargains now. Otherwise, it was a day to read, relax and catch up on tv.

Monday – back to school and work.  So much rain, so much flooding all over our county.  The school PTSA meeting moved online due to the state of the roads.  Our patio is a little bit flooded, and all along our road is bad. Hopefully it does ease a bit overnight so the buses will still be able to run tomorrow.

Tuesday – you wouldn’t have believed we’d even had bad rain by school drop off.  A dry day thankfully.  I ordered leaving gifts for people.  It’s a lot of pressure, I don’t like having to decide. N made pancakes for pudding after dinner. It’s always nice to have someone else cook. I had the first one hence it’s a bit rough looking, but tasted really good.

Wednesday – a busy day with some training, and also said goodbye to a lovely colleague who’s leaving. It rained a lot again post lunch, so football training was very soggy. They’re back indoors from next week as the nights are drawing in.

Thursday – I had a flexi day. The forecast had looked awful, so I didn’t go out visiting National Trust as I’d hoped.  I had my INR test (right at the time the presale for Coldplay tickets opened, so I was some way down in the queue and not hopeful by the time I could get in). Luckily my test was still stable – it’s been stable since about January, and having had Covid at the start of the month, I was pleased it didn’t impact my reading. I then dropped into a couple of shops for some gift buying and picking up some things I needed. Had a couple of hours in a coffee shop blogging which I’ve not done for a while.

Friday – back to work, and after having a flexi day it was a surprise to have a short day. Bonus! Otherwise not much going on. I started reading a paperback book which I rarely do because it requires my glasses. But it was nice to read rather than my Kindle. But is only good in the mornings at breakfast. The rest of the day it’s too much effort and poor lighting, so I’m back on the Kindle.

Saturday – my bank card saw some serious action thanks to N needing new metal stud football boots, trainers, football socks and a PE overlayer for school. Ouch. The rest of the day I caught up with a tv series I’d recorded, sorting out dinner, washing and folding clothes, then checking my Fantasy League team. Top scorer in our league so far this week, so we’ll see what the final matches this weekend will end up with. I just wish I’d captained Cole Palmer – I’d have shot right back up the league again.

New posts this week:

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • The Wives on tv. I’ve been blitzing it on catch up.
  • Seeing N’s school Geography department’s instagram feed. They’re making the most of the weather, making geography lessons more relevant and bringing it to life for the kids.
  • A day off spending time doing what I want to do with no pressure.

Things I’m grateful for:

  • No flooding for us, and what roads were bad, were back to normal quickly.
  • Having pancakes made for me (and the stuff put away afterwards).
  • My INR still being stable. When it goes out of range, it means back to a week for my next check, but because it’s so stable, I’m now at 8 week checks.

  1. The crepe looks lovely, well done to him for cooking so well. It’s a shame about not being able to visit the National Trust, hopefully the weather will be better in the next weeks.

  2. I’ve been out today in the rain. Ugh! It’s not fun getting soaked. We’ve had none of the flooding thankfully.
That is great about your INR test and well done with the fantasy football.

  3. My boys love Cole Palmer – I am top of the league in our Super 6, Fantasy Football, we won’t speak about that LOL. Loved watching The Wives, such a great show, although I did call it

    1. Me too on The Wives. It was going to be fairly obvious I think. Well done on your Fantasy Football too. N isn’t very pleased because he’s near the bottom (after giving me defender tips at the start), but noone’s going to catch the guy at the top – he’s in a league with 50 others (and the bottom person had a huge score even before last week), so he’s obviously v serious about it.
