Project 52 2025 week 17
Week 17 of the year was a busy week, although we did have a quiet Easter itself. There was lots of car washing for N, and work for me after a couple of days off. Here’s what went on for Project 52 this week.
Sunday – Easter Sunday, and just a normal day really. N got chocolate rather than eggs, but plenty of it. We went over to my sister in law’s for dinner with the in laws, which was nice. I could hardly move after a nice roast and cheesecake for pudding.
Monday – grotty day weatherwise. N was washing cars and got a bit wet. It took him nearly 4 hours – 2 cars and the inside of one. He definitely earnt his money for that. I’d hoped to go out for the day, but being mum taxi and the weather put paid to that. I mostly just pottered, read, and tried to catch up on the ice skating from weeks ago that I’ve still not quite finished watching. I’m nearly done now though.
Tuesday – day off and I’d planned to go out for the morning but ended up just doing bits and pieces at home, and a quick nip out. I did some blogging. In the evening I went line dancing. So many people – lots of newbies which meant we ended up moving to a different row and letting them in the middle. It felt very strange with a different view of the world, and not much space. We did the same dances I’d learnt last week, so it was good to know I’d not missed anything the previous week. And spend some time going back over them.
Got home after to find a calf had got out of the barn, managed to get through the gates/blockades, and gone for an adventure in our garden. N and I had to get it back in where it should be (after it had jumped the electric fence that’s meant to keep the dogs in the garden).
Wednesday – another day off work, although I did end up dialling into a meeting late in the afternoon. There’s just too much going on to take much time off at the moment. Otherwise a lazy relaxing day. Watched some tv, made some blancmange to use up an excess of milk, read. Evening catching up with other parents at football training. Today it was me chatting to all the dads as I was the only mum dropping kids off.
Thursday – heavy day at work in the office. But nice to catch up with a couple of people I’ve not seen in a while. N had his clay shooting lessons start up again. I went off to line dancing for a couple of hours. It was someone’s birthday so they’d bought in cake. I must remember that tradition when it gets to October for mine. The improver class is fast. They teach a couple of dances, then for the last 15 minutes just whizz through dances they already know. Once I tried to follow but it was a bit harder than expected. The others I sat out. It means I need to try and catch up learning them myself, and definitely practising at home. It was very hot and sweaty. I don’t know how the rest of them don’t get so hot and red faced.
Friday – short day at work. N went off to do some car washing. We had a pizza takeaway treat from the place owned by our local chippy people. It’s really nice pizza but so expensive for the size of it. So it’s definitely a rare treat.
Saturday – first football match in a while. The last time we played these opponents we only had 10 men and had an unlucky loss 1-0. This time with 11 men and a sub, we won 3-1. We had a lot more chances than them as well, so it was a shame it wasn’t more. But given they were only 1 point behind us in the league, it was a needed win with 2 matches to go. Looks like we’ll end up comfortably in 3rd.
Looks like my Fantasy League team this week has started better than the last few weeks, but think I’ll still be overtaken by the person below me. Fingers crossed this means better results from now til the end of the season.

New posts this week:
Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Mixing up my reading genres this week, although ended up back with some cheesy romance box sets. When they’re only £1.99 for 4-5 books, that’s 4-5 days reading on the cheap!
- Double line dancing.
- Watching our boys win at football, despite it feeling like quite a flat match for most of it.
Things I’m grateful for this week:
- Logistics working out while I was in the office, N had to be taken to/pick up from a car washing job, then clay shooting lesson in the evening, as I was getting home and heading out to dancing. Plus they got fed at the farm.
- Plenty of books to read in my Kindle.
- A nice Easter meal with family.
How wonderful to have a festive meal cooked for you. I enjoy cooking, but I also love when someone else cooks.
Big well done to N for all the car washing business.
Sounds like line dancing went well, and you even have a cake, win-win.
The wisteria looks gorgeous, I always enjoy seeing wisteria in other people’s gardens, and by the porches.
Takeaway pizza is sooo expensive. My guys love Domino’s, but even with their deals it costs way too much.
Ohh! It’s nice to have a meal cooked for you, I always enjoy them better than one I cook myself.
Oops to the calf escaping and going on an adventure.
It sounds like you are really enjoying the line dancing. I imagine I would be red in the face trying to keep up too.
Takeaway pizzas are so expensive now a days. They are a rare treat here too. x
A roast dinner always tastes better when someone else cooks it – cheesecake sounds like a wonderful treat.
Glad to hear that you are enjoying your new line dancing, finding it tricky is good as it gives you more satisfaction when you grasp it.
Love your wisteria, my husband cut ours right back and I think he has killed it
