Project 52 2025 week 19

I’m loving having more of an out of work routine back again, with line dancing regularly, and back to N’s tennis as well as football. That will be nice given the football season is largely over. Work’s been busy. There’s also been lots of stuff to think about that I’m not sure about, but hopefully by June all will be over and done with, even if it’s not the outcome wanted. Here’s this week’s Project 52 for week 19.

Sunday – I actually got properly back to sleep after waking at 3.28, and then 6.30 (my usual alarm time). I got an extra hour lie in before reading in bed. I just needed to get some bread and petrol after not getting into town yesterday with football, so it was a quick trip in and back home. The rest of the day I read, practised some of my line dancing dances, caught up on some tv I’d recorded. My brother popped over too, but he’s being preachy about a change your life/diet book so it’s doing my head in a bit. I know he’s trying to encourage me as well, but I know what works for me, and having people fussing and hassling doesn’t.

Monday – bank holiday Monday and I visited Cotswold Sculpture Park. I’ve not been before, and I was pleased it wasn’t very busy when I arrived.  The weather was just warm enough not to wear a coat. There were around 200 sculptures all on a walk through gardens and woodland which was lovely.  I made a trifle for pudding. Delicious and no complaints from anyone which is always good.

Tuesday – had line dancing but afterwards had to go to the shop to get N’s food tech ingredients for the next day. It meant I didn’t have time to do the improvers class too. Maybe next week.

Wednesday – it’s looking positive that N may come on holidays (well, few days away) in half term with me. I just need to find some things suitable for teens (he wants a waterpark – not sure a swim in a 1920s lido will quite do it for him) in or around Penzance to do. We’ll be seeing my best friend and her family so I want to be able to spend time with them as well as making sure he gets some things he wants to do too.

Football practice in the evening, and had a nice natter with some of the parents.

Thursday – line dancing again. This venue does make me laugh – they all have set chairs, there’s a birthday list so they know who’s bringing in cake on which week, and there’s someone who brings eggs to sell. They’re like this club who know everything about each other, but they’re also so welcoming bringing anyone new into their group. There were a few different faces there.  I’ve got another 2 dances I need to learn that they just ran straight through. Hopefully they’re easier than the other one I had to teach myself from Youtube and the stepsheet. But that one worked well, so onto the next 2. It’s great that tennis is back again, but a shame that the line dance socials clash with that.

Friday – busy day, and I didn’t get everything I wanted to get done. N had an orthodontist appointment. He was hoping to find out when he’ll get these braces off, but didn’t ask, and as August is the next appointment I doubt they’ll be coming off at that one. It might help if he wore his elastics through the day as well as at night, but she was pleased. It’s just the final gap to close now. Tennis was very loud but after only a week being back, they were certainly playing better than previously.

Saturday – no football today, so an early hair appointment for N. Then a brief trip into town. As I got back to the car after about 4 minutes getting bread from the market, we spotted a car parking person. I’m hoping the 10 mins leeway is given – it always takes about 3 mins getting a ticket from the machine (although I usually Ringo), so I begrudge spending £1.50 for a 30 minute ticket. Fingers crossed he hadn’t got round to my car or that he allows the 10 minute leeway. We also did a quick Costa stop and N wanted to see what Home Bargains had in. Otherwise it was a relaxing day. I blitzed breadcrumbs for the freezer, .read, caught up on tv and edited photos for a blog post.

No new posts this week.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • Meeting new friends at line dancing.
  • Dancing around the kitchen learning new dances
  • New Magnum flavours – hazelnut and all the other nuts. Delicious

Things I’m grateful for this week:

  • A morning off football, and a nice coffee shop visit with N
  • Enjoying the sun (but it not being too hot)
  • It wasn’t quite as hot at line dancing this week.

  1. The sculpture looks lovely. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a sculture park, I should look for one nearby.
It’s annoying when others are giving advice when it was not asked for. He is doing it out of concern, of course, but it can feel a bit too much at times. N is cooking often, that’s great. Well done to him for doing that. Good luck with finding the perfect holiday spot.

  2. Sunday sounded like a nice day, apart from your brother’s unwelcome comments. The line dancing group sounds a bit weird but also very friendly in equal amounts, not sure if it would put we off or encourage me to join.

  3. What an amazing art installation! The location looks perfect.
Glad you had a lovely week, with lots of dancing.
We stay in a village near Penzance every summer, and love having day trips to Penzance. The Newlyn art gallery is very good.
For places to eat, The Admiral Benbow pub is quite extraoridnary to visit, with a lot of marine paraphernalia. The food is typical pub food. We also like to have a brunch in Duke St cafe in Newlyn, just outside Pensance. I would love to visit the swimming pool in Penzance.

  4. Have not heard of Cotswold Sculpture Park, but I love our local one, so will look that one up for when we next visit. Sorry your brother Is being annoying, nothing worse than people trying to tell you what to do

  5. Your out of work routine sounds great!
So sorry you didn’t get the outcome that you wanted.
Your Sunday sounds lovely, what is it about brothers who fuss and hassle, I have one of those too.
You can’t beat a trifle for pudding! Yum, yum!
I hope you find somewhere to go with N over half term. x
