Project 52 2026 week 38

Following on fast from last week, quite a bit going on. It’s always nice to have interesting things to do, especially when they involve friends and hobbies! Here’s my week 38 for Project 52.

Sunday – my foot was still painful, very hobbly to walk on. I did manage to dance in the morning workshop, but sat out a lot of the social dances. We said our goodbyes and headed off via Andover to pick up my friend’s dog from her daughter. Nice view of Stonehenge from the road. They’d offered to cook us a roast, so that was a nice treat, as well as meeting them.  Got home around 7pm, unpacked and relaxed.

Monday – normal working and school day. My foot felt a bit better through the day, hopefully tomorrow will be ok and I’ll be able to dance. N’s school app is finally working after I emailed them to let me know when they’d fixed the issues with it. A reset must have been needed. No more me needing to update him all the time with what homework he’s got.

It was a beautiful warm day, so managed to get 2 loads of clothes washed and pretty much dried. In the afternoon noticed I’d been bitten on the top of my left arm again. Back to the antihistamine tablets.

Tuesday – in the office for work. Quick nip to the shops before dancing, got some cream for my itchy bites. My foot felt a lot better, good enough for dancing, although I was a bit tired by the end of the class so sat out a couple. We went over a couple of the dances taught at the weekend so it’s good to practice those.

Wednesday – quiet work day. N was at after school revision, so it was a late pick up. Posted my best friend’s birthday card at the same time which a) is going to be late as I only had 2nd class stamps, and b) no gift because annoyingly it’s stuck in transit somewhere. I’m fuming because nowhere did it say long delivery times and also didn’t say it wasn’t coming from within the UK. So bit peeved with that.

In the evening got on with sorting photos from my weekend, a bit of blogging and catching up on some reading.

Thursday – no dancing because instead I was going to see Ward Thomas play at Warwick Arts Centre. I’ve seen them before at Cornbury Festival. Finding my usual car park was frustrating as so many of the car parks now have names, but mine was a number. And there were so many signs and diversions for new student arrivals it took awhile to find where I actually needed to be.  The show was amazing though, and their support acts were good. It was a shame it wasn’t a full house for them though.

Friday – short work day, then picked up N and took him for a hair cut. Then tennis, where N managed to hurt his ankle, then rolled his ankle on a ball. So one swollen foot (bizarrely, rather than the ankle itself). Hoping that keeping it raised and some cold packs will help reduce the swelling. I’m out tomorrow with a friend so if it’s still in agony tomorrow, I’m not sure what he’ll be doing or if he’ll be able to get it checked out.

Saturday – N’s foot was a little better, he could put more weight on it. Still bruised, but he said it was above his inside ankle that hurt more. Hopefully rest will help it. Although if he can’t put his school shoe on, that’ll be a note into school for trainers.

As an early birthday celebration one of my good friends took me on a day out in London. It was all a surprise and an amazing one. We had brunch at the Ivy in the Park which was delicious and a lovely place (such a shame they don’t allow photos). Then headed to North Greenwich for the afternoon session of the Laver Cup tennis. An amazing surprise, my friend knows me so well. The tennis was good, even though Team Europe lost. We watch Cobelli vs Tien, and then Zverev vs De Minaur. Saw lots of famous faces that were picked out in the crowd on the big screen.

We avoided the rush of the tube back by stopping off for dinner at Canary Wharf which was lovely pizza. All in all a really lovely treat, and my friend is just fab. Got back quite late, so the rest of the house was asleep.
