Project 52 2024 week 32

Another week of the holidays has gone by, although we’re 3 weeks in already and it feels like it’s whizzing by so fast. As I’ve been in work, it’s not been the most exciting of weeks. Here’s our week 32 of Project 52.

Sunday – woke with a headache, but decided I’d still go out to the pick your own sunflower farm nearby. They had a lovely set up with refreshments and picnic table, and it’s all done for charity.  The rest of the day was Olympic watching and some reading.

Monday – back to work after a week off so was unsurprisingly busy. N had to cook tea which I’d prepped, because I was on a call. I had Olympics withdrawals after having had a week of viewing.

Tuesday – just another work day. Nothing really went on of any interest. I’ve finalised my ISA stuff for this year which is good, so don’t need to worry so much about so much savings interest being taxed.

Wednesday – into the office. Before work I had to get the slow cooker on, take the recycling out and put the dishwasher on. Football only had 6 of the 8 turn up, so they were doing drills rather than the bleep test they’d been promised.

Thursday – busy work day with lots of calls and questions. I like those days – as the tv ad used to say, ‘it’s good to talk’.  N had a shooting lesson in the evening, but it would have been a bit miserable with the rain arriving. Did my Tesco food order, and then caught up with the Olympics.

Friday – a bit of a boring food shop as there were no treats in it really. It was a very quiet work day – everyone must be on leave or on flexi, as I had very few calls, even fewer emails, and minimal messages. All very odd. N’s finished plant watering duties as his Gramp’s back from holiday.

Saturday – took N and a friend to Milton Keynes aqua park. They enjoyed themselves, although it was wet as we were leaving. A McDonalds lunch on the way home. It was our first day out of the holidays together, as N’s largely been out on the farm during my week off.

New posts this week:

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • Bedtime reading with N, doesn’t happen much anymore.
  • A day taking N and a friend out, with laughs about inside out wetsuits.
  • More Olympics viewing.

Things I’m grateful for this week:

  • Being able to book in my car service online when I needed it.
  • Being able to watch the tail end of the Olympics for the sports I wanted to catch – thank you iplayer, HD recordings, BBC sports extra, and a little Discovery+ (although the latter is a pain to navigate to the actual sports, rather than sitting through the gaps inbetween).
  • A later alarm for workdays when it’s the holidays. Only a bit later, but it means I can stay in bed and read for a bit longer.

  1. I cannot believe we are three weeks into the holiday already. Work is taking up far too much time. We did sunflowers today, it was lovely

  2. This summer really is flying over!
The sunflower farm sounds like a lovely time out and good job on getting your ISA stuff sorted. The aqua park sounds like fun. x

  3. Halfway through the holidays and your FIRST day out? I suppose Olympics come first though, it’s not every year is it?! I’m sure N understands.

    1. I’ve only had 1 week off work, and that week N wanted to be out working on the farm, his choice (the excitement of harvest, especially as he’s old enough to actually help more). I suppose we did go to the Game Fair at the start of the holidays, so that’s one day out that he wanted to go on. I can’t make him come on day trips out like we used to all the time. I’ve been out and about without him, doing things I like that he wouldn’t. We’ll go away on holiday later in the summer, but I’d rather he enjoy his summer the way he wants.
