Project 52 2024 week 43

It’s been a more exciting week with different things going on this week. Nice for the 8 week half term to be over, although lots of homework for N. Here’s how this week’s Project 52 has gone for week 43.

Sunday – I did an early farm shop visit, bumped into a couple of family members there.  Remembered to order our turkey for Christmas, and their delicious pigs in blankets.  Then back home to do some walking, and generally caught up with things online, reading. I baked a Devonshire apple cake – unfortunately it’s not on my diet but it seemed to go down ok with the rest of the house.

Monday – good result for Fantasy Football, I’m back up to 2nd. Even though Saka didn’t play, my bench substitute had lots of points so did well. The only issue is both are still/now injured, so it’s looking like 2 potential subs when I didn’t want to make any. Must remember to do those by Friday after I’ve checked injuries after midweek games.

Tuesday – more walking this morning before work. Getting back to my keto eating is better too. I already feel like I’ve got less tummy on me. But it does make it hard for eating out when others are organising it. I’ll need to remember my own lunch for a work thing because I changed my diet after the dietary requirements deadline, and going to dinner with someone, I’ll just eat what’s provided but fill up on salad.

Wednesday – team day in the office which was nice, and met quite a few new people. Quick stop at home to empty the dishwasher, and point out what food was available if the OH was going to cook. Then back out to football training for N. Nice to catch up with a mum I’ve not seen for a while.

Thursday – normal working day, but had my Covid booster at lunchtime in a random pharmacy in town. It was a long wait considering it was all specific appointments. All the elderly going in couples wrapped up in lots of layers, whereas I was prepared and could just whip my cardigan arm off.  In the evening we went to have a catch up and food at friends’ in the village. Time to come off keto for one evening as it was pizza (and I did have crumble for dessert too). It was so nice to catch up with them – now tennis isn’t on, the boys don’t see each other much either.

Friday – tired this morning because I didn’t sleep well thanks to my aching arm on my usual sleep side.  Also felt too tired to do my walking either, plus had a Tesco delivery, so made the call that this morning would be reading time instead. Having said that, I had to make my fantasy league transfers, and that took longer than I’d planned.

Saturday – slept better and arm’s no longer painful. After a few weeks of no access to the parking near the charity shop, I had to make a visit today to take N’s decluttered children’s books and bits in. He’d forgotten he was due to come with me. Then it was off to various shops for different types of socks for N (thankfully he’s now in the smallest men’s sports socks which means they’re easier to find in black), I bought a new pair of black boots because my old ones scrunch my toes too much now and give me blisters on the ball of my right foot when I walk. I’ve had them years and had to superglue the sole, so I think I’m justified. Although the new ones (wider fit), are a bit more clumpier on the sole than I wanted for smarter wear.

I had a baking afternoon. We had some clotted cream to use so made some scones. Then needed to use up overripe bananas which appeared in our fridge from the farm (we already had some that noone was eating), so we’ve got banana muffins too. Hopefully I can find some freezer room for some of them, because I’m off sugar/carbs, and N’s the only other person who eats them.

No new posts this week – slacker!

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • Catching up with friends
  • Seeing N and his friend catch up again and still get on like they did before
  • Seeing everyone in the office

Things I’m grateful for this week:

  • Not having to cook myself (for 1 day)
  • Being able to order the meat we wanted for Christmas day
  • No issues with my jab

  1. Glad your sore arm after your Covid booster didn’t last too long. Nice to have a teams day in the office and see people. Definitely justified in getting new boots – sounds like you did well keeping the old ones going for as long as you did. Scones and banana muffins sound delicious. Hope you managed to find room in the freezer. #project365

  2. I don’t bake much these days as I’m fed up of having the same things over and over even if I freeze them and I find it almost impossible to just bake 4 cupcakes or muffins. Nice you can come off your kept diet, it’s not as simple with gluten free. I’ll just do a supermarket shop near Christmas for the actual day, we’ll eat what ever they have in store, we’ve never stressed about it.

  3. The Devonshire apple cake and scones sound nice. I keep chuckling at all the old people all wrapped up, it’s still so mild!! Hope N enjoys half term

  4. Hooray for half term, it’s a shame about all the homework for N.
Well done with your eating, it sounds like you are feeling better for it.
It sounds like you were due a new pair of boots.
What a pretty wall, Autumn is well and truly here. x
