Project 52 2025 week 10
Weather wise week 10 of Project 52 has been quite lovely. Beautiful blue skies, sun, warmth, and only a little bit of grey. This is my kind of weather – light coat, or just about no coat, a comfortable warmth, rather than sweating buckets in heat over 25C. It’s been quite a good week, although I’ve not got much reading done. Here’s what I’ve been up to this week.
Sunday – busy day, early farm shop/butcher visit before going to get 2 new tyres sorted. It took a bit longer than they estimated, but I was able to nip into Morrisons to pick up some food N needed for food tech later in the week. The afternoon was a late lunch, prepping dinner, sorting out washing, unloading the dishwasher and an hour or so catching a bit of the football. N now has his uncle’s old dartboard, so we’re permanently hearing thud, thud, thud of the darts from his room.
Monday – not much done other than work. Nice weather continued which is so lovely, and our mini daffodils are just about blooming in the wall too. So nice to see Spring and the flowers blooming.
Tuesday – N was off school with a headache. He’s obviously taking after both of us with headaches, although I didn’t really start getting them until older, and I reckon mine are tied in with hormones/having a day of drinking less water. Not great when it means missing school. He was better later so had pancakes. I had mine when I got back from line dancing. We learnt a bit more of a complicated dance which was good. It was funny to see the more advanced dancers ending up on the wrong wall!
Wednesday – nipped out at lunchtime to drop off PTSA begging letters at small local supermarkets in the hope they’ll be able to donate some Easter Eggs for school. None of the managers were in, so I’ll have to hope they ring me back. No football training as they’ll be back outside once it’s light til 6.30. So possibly only a week off. He did go out to kick a ball out as somehow my father in law had managed to cut the grass, but it was still too soggy.
Thursday – work day in the office. My 7 miles drive ended up taking nearly 40 minutes thanks to road closures for fixing the roads by us, and fibre broadband traffic lights/closures in another village. Good and worthwhile day though. Plus when I’m in the office they’ve usually eaten tea by the time I’m home, so I don’t have to cook. Always a bonus. I spent the evening doing my Tesco order – thought I only needed a few things, but ended up being much more expensive than I expected. Then planned my Friday day off.
Friday – day off work. I decided to go to Bicester Village where I’ve not been for years. There’s not many of the shops that are ‘normal’ and within my price range, or shops I like, so I was finished in under an hour. But I bought a ‘get it before it’s gone’ cardigan for 70% off, a few pick and mix Lindt chocolates for Easter for N rather than Easter eggs, and treated myself to a Spring Emma Bridgewater mug. I totally forgot to go into a jewellery shop I’d wanted to try to see how much discount they had on some earrings I like.
Nipped to Lidl for some bits I don’t get in my normal food delivery. Got stuck in the checkout queue that had the a check out person on who had get clean up someone’s split cat litter bag, then went to go and get them another bag, then needed to clean the conveyor belt for something else too. More tills were opened which then whizzed through, but too late for me to move. They really should have a basket only till in the discounters! Then back to our town to get something for dinner. Picked up some tulips while I was there, then home to await my Tesco delivery.
Saturday – beautiful warm sunny day. N had a football match in the morning. Their supposedly injured player luckily turned up, as they only had 11 players. But then sone of our strongest players got injured halfway through the first half and couldn’t play on. They kept fighting, and it was only in the last 10 minutes or so that they conceded an unlucky goal. Then had a penalty saved. So a shame to lose when they’d worked so hard to nearly finish with a draw. Let’s hope the return match they have a full team back out. Quite a few of us stopped at the motorway service station on the way home to get lunch, so that was quite nice to sit and chat for a bit.
In the afternoon had a bit of time out in the garden, kicked a few footballs for N in goal, and chatted to our neighbour. It was lovely to be able to enjoy some time out there.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- social lunch in the office at work
- the return of MAFS Australia
- afternoon enjoying the garden
Things I’m grateful for:
- good journey up the motorway and back for football (love Saturday traffic!)
- having enough time to do everything on my day off I wanted to. I’d thought I’d be a bit rushed
- that we noticed the fence was on fire when our neighbour was burning off a plant. Bucket and water to the rescue.
So lovely to have had some blue skies and sunshine and see the spring flowers blooming. Hope you manage to get some of the local supermarkets to donate Easter eggs. What a shame that N’s team lost. Hope that they have a full team again next time. Thank goodness you noticed the fence being on fire and got it put out! #project365
It’s been such a lovely warm week. I did venture into town without a coat a couple of times, and worked in the garden just in jumper.
I’d love to visit Bicester Village, I keep saying I should go one day, there is even a train from Oxford, but somehow cannot organise the trip. Glad you got some treats for yourself; I love Emma Bridgewater mugs.
Hope the supermarkets respond to your letters and provide the Easter eggs for the school.
The weather has been so good this week it’s been lovely to get outside a little more. It’s a good job you spotted the fence fire in time!
I wonder if there are fewer donations of Easter Eggs this year due to the rising cost chocolate has become so expensive.
I have tulips as well this week I’m just hoping they don’t droop too quickly.
I’ve liked the weather this week too, not too hot but just warm enough.
I always put my headaches down to the change in weather. I hope N isn’t suffering anymore.
Good luck with getting some Easter Egg donations.
Friday sounds like a great day out.
