Project 52 2025 week 15
It’s been a busy week with some nice bits dropped in. Plus nice sunny weather that’s not too hot but warm enough for the flip flops to come out (although they’re a bit cold when working at my desk). Here’s this week’s Project 52 for week 15 of the year.
Sunday – N had a car washing job so my brother dropped him off and picked him up for that as I going to the Tulley’s Tulip Gardens at Hatton Country World with a friend. We both agreed that for the money it was a bit disappointing. Smaller than expected, although in future it might end up being bigger. Nice to catch up though.
Monday – back to work and school. N nearly had no money on his card for the bus. Luckily he messaged me in time (and I actually got the message!)
Tuesday – no line dancing tonight as the teacher was on holiday. I’d tried to contact another line dance teacher to find out if she was doing classes elsewhere this week. But took 3 days to come back to me, by which time it was too late for me to get to the class. Shame, but as least I know in future when her classes are. I do find line dance teachers a bit rubbish compared with other dance classes I’ve done. They rarely have a website, don’t regularly update their facebook if they even have it. Some don’t even have their classes on the Line Dancing website. It’s like they don’t want you to know they exist.
Such a lovely sunny day again, in the evening we finally lifted up the table tennis table from the ground where it’s been all winter to avoid the wind. And had a lovely time play with N. It was nice to see the swallows have returned as well. A bit earlier than normal.
Wednesday – another warm day. N took his car washing business cards to post through doors in the village. Afterwards, I sat out at football practice with my book as there were parents missing who’d usually be there to chat to.
Thursday – flexi day. I decided against my original plans, instead just staying close to home and doing odds and sods needed in town. Nice coffee shop book reading, lunch, and then played a bit of table tennis in the sun til I got too warm, and then disturbed by the lawn mower going. The enrichment week trip options came round from school, and they’re not looking very exciting. I told him to check with his friends, because he wouldn’t want to be stuck in school with no friends. He didn’t want to go on the 5 day Cornwall trip which I was surprised about, so just has to choose from the day trips (but they’re all places he’s been before with me).
Friday – some of the cows went out in the field behind us which is always nice to see. They had a bit of a bellow, but they’re quite nosy compared to some that go in there and avoid us totally. We had a late chippy tea as the OH was working late as usual at this time of the year.
Saturday – went into town in the morning with N. Various bits and pieces to do. He bought some water balloons that fill multiple from the hose at once, so I spent part of the afternoon picking up the exploded bits they’d missed. First BBQ of the year too. N cooked the burgers, I did the chicken and corn on the cob in the kitchen, then finished them off on the BBQ. It’s been another shocker of a week so far for my Fantasy League team. It promised so much til halfway through the season, and I’m dropping each week.

New posts this week:
Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- Catching up with a friend and getting outdoors
- First BBQ of the year
- Playing table tennis
Things I’m grateful for:
- Nice weather and not too much wind, cue lunchtime to play table tennis
- Even with my lack of watering, we seem to have some sprouting plants and flowers coming up from our late planting in March.
- My final attempt to find some slouchy boots possible for line dancing has seen some extra wide ones from Next do the job. With the extra wide they had the zip all the way up instead of just around the ankle, so yay. Their sizing is obviously way off because my feet don’t usually need wide feet, but these don’t gape like my M&S wider boots do, so they feet my feet as well as my calves. Now to scuff the soles and make them a bit slippier for dancing.
I’m not a big fan of enrichment days when they come round, why they can’t just have an end of term trip to a theme park is beyond me and these residential trips are so expensive. Glad you’ve managed to find alternative line dancing classes online. I never seem to find anything of interest to do on Facebook anyway, always word of mouth.
The picture with the wooden shoes is so pretty. Well done to N for his car washing job, that’s very nice. I might have mentioned before that line dancing sounds really interesting. It’s something I’d like to try.
What a colourful heart of clogs! I think I only ever had one pair, when I was in high school. Sorry to hear the line dancing lesson didn’t happen, but yay for new boots for dancing.
The weather was lovely, more summery than spring, but I think we’re back to rainy days now.
Why didn’t N want to go on a five-day trip to Cornwall?
Love the clogs, so colourful!!
I haven’t broken out my flip flops yet, mind you, I did check my last pair as the soles were worn and I kept slipping in them
I’ve got birkenstocks and flip flops all over the place, I love wearing them. But my left ankle swells in the heat, and by the end of the day makes my foot tight, so I wear them less than I used to as I neeed to really wear my compression socks. But when it gets too hot I’ll go back to bare feet again.
I said if we could have the weather we’ve had over the past week all summer I’d be happy! It was just the right temperature.
That is a shame that there was no line dancing this week but at least you know where future classes are.
The water balloons sound like fun for N, not so much for you having to pick the bits up. Hooray for the BBQ.
