Project 52 2025 week 28

It’s been a week with a few logistical nightmares. And of course not forgetting the heat which seems never ending. Hope you’re dealing with it better than I do! Here’s my week 28 for Project 52.

Sunday – it rained. Huge thunderstorm but it only lasted a short time at home, and around 30 minutes in town where I was. Another load of rain in the afternoon. It’ll help the flowers a bit, but won’t do a lot for the fields. Better than nothing I suppose. A day of mostly chores for me, although I did watch our Brits in Wimbledon.

Monday – back to school for enrichment week. So lots of trips, activities and fun rotating ‘lessons’.

Tuesday – not much going on except for work. Then very hot line dancing in the evening.

Wednesday – in the office. We’ve got new parking spaces as we’ve moved office within the building, so it’s fun trying to work out which spaces I can get into with pillars and wonky directions. Nice having lovely air con there though.  N was on a school trip to the water park. N defrosted the dough we froze when we couldn’t light the pizza oven in the wind,

Thursday – another office day. It was all a bit frantic because N needed picking up from school after a trip to Drayton Manor at 6, but I had a leaving do for 4 colleagues to go to. The OH couldn’t (or maybe wouldn’t?) pick up, so I had 40 minutes at the leaving do before rushing off to school. Got home to find a flower delivery from my old team I’ve had to move from, to say thanks. So nice of them (although I’m having to move the flowers around the house because they’ve got a strong scent and they keep kicking off N’s hayfever).

I thought I’d need to cook but there were leftovers at the farm, so I could go out dancing. Didn’t get there too late which was good. Crikey it was hot, even with all the fans there. I was surprised how busy it was given the heat.

Friday – Tesco delivery arrived with a very manky carrot which was a bit bizarre given the other 2 were fine. A short work day.  Halloumi salad for tea for me as it was so hot, but N defrosted the last pizza dough and cooked that instead.  I’m thinking in future when we use the pizza oven, we just make a huge batch of dough to then freeze in portions. So much easier just to get those out when needed in the morning, than faff around making dough with enough time on the day.

Super hot for tennis. Only N and one other friend was there so they mostly just played singles. The car park was shut off because they were respraying the lines. So everyone for the various tennis lessons was having to park out along the road which wasn’t in the shade at all. It was a hot hour even with my fan I’d taken with me.

Saturday – tried to get into town early to avoid the worst of the heat. It was 25C by 8.20! So hot, but I just stayed indoors in the cool for most of the day.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • Watching the tennis (and all the social media videos, reels and memes).
  • A new faster Kindle.
  • Catching up with recent leavers from work.

Things I’m grateful for this week:

  • Prime deals – finally upgraded my very slow, very old Kindle. Now to work out how I can set it up on another account for N
  • Aircon at work
  • Managing to make at least a little bit of the leaving do for work colleagues

  1. What a pretty bunch of flowers, so colourful!
Making pizza dough and freezing it sounds like a great idea.
It was so hot, that I didn’t fancy cooking much, we had all sorts of picky bits.
Sounds like N had a fun week at school.

  2. Sounds like N had a fun week in school with enrichment week. We definitely need more rain especially with all the hot weather we’ve been having but it looks like it’s arriving now ready for the start of the summer holidays! I’ve appreciated the air con at work over the last couple of weeks as well! Lovely flowers from your colleagues. Good idea to make a big batch of pizza dough and freeze. Glad you were able to make it to some of the leaving do for your colleagues. #project365

  3. Having pizza dough frozen sounds like a very good idea. I imagine it takes a bit of time to defrost, but it’s easier than having to make dough from scratch and leaving it to rise.
    The flowers look gorgeous.

    1. We just took it out of the freezer in the morning. But the quick one N wanted, it was such hot weather, he just laid it in the sandwich bag on top of the table tennis table outside. It only took about 20 minutes!

  4. The heat has been horrible hasn’t it, I’ve barely moved from in front of the fan these past few days.
It sounds like N has had a good week in school, I don’t think our high school does enrichment week.
Good news about the Kindle, I must dig mine out it has lots of unread books on it.

  5. We had quite a bit of rain on Sunday and my garden loved it! The grass is still a bit patchy but better than it was.
My fella has loved being at work over the past week with the air con.
How lovely that your old team sent you flowers. They are beautiful. x
