Project 52 2025 week 42

Another week of neglect on the blog. I’m just not motivated at all – I’ve got photos I need to get edited so I can publish the post that’s been outstanding for weeks. And I need to sort out all my old recipes because with the weird stuff on my blog, my recipe plugin isn’t showing anything. I think I just need a whole new blog but I don’t have the time. Maybe over Christmas I’ll have 2 weeks to blitz it all. Anyway, here’s my Project 52 for week 42.

Sunday – I woke just before 7.30, but then snoozed off and didn’t wake again til 8.30. Huge lie in. Usually a lie in’s because I’m reading! Quick nip out to the farm shop for meat, I put in my Christmas meat order while I was there. Dropped off my watch strap return for the one I’d incorrectly bought. Then a lazy day catching up on some reading, watching the rest of a tv series I’d got through half of. It’s nice to do not a lot on occasion.

Monday – the OH started cooking their tea for Tuesday. Bolognese (with his randomly doctoring of it with lager and curry powder (?!). I did the veg chopping (I love my veg chopper, and he’s thinking one might be a good Christmas present for his mum), it’s always nice to cook together. I’d presumed he’d just brown the mince off in the slow cooker pot, plus the onions, then leave it til the morning. But no, he whacked it on high for the evening…so it was already cooked.

Tuesday – day in the office. It was a busy one, but nice to see lots of different people in, and have a chat over lunch. Went to Oxford to the theatre to see The Return of the Legends, some of the former Strictly male pros. It was a great show, even with James feeling sick and having to disappear on occasion during the first half hour until he was given anti sickness tablets. Evidently the evening high cooking followed by a day on medium makes mince really nice. They made ‘cottage pie’ with the leftovers for Wednesday.

Wednesday – had worried about the bus detouring due to another road closure on the way into the village, but it wasn’t actually closed. Normal busy work day. Did some surveys in the evening and some photo editing.

Thursday – after school N went into town with a couple of friends so they could go to the fair. His first time at the fair on his own, and first time out alone after dark given how early it gets dark now. I was a bit worried about letting him go especially as I was out at dancing in case anything went wrong. But they organised it themselves, got changed and dumped bags at their friend’s who lives in town, then headed out. A few rides, Nandos for food, then back to the friend’s where he was picked up from and dropped home. He was lucky the other parent could pick up, given I was at dancing. Of course everything’s on the same night. But a successful evening, and I still got to enjoy mine too

Friday – short work day. Lazy tea, treated ourselves to nice takeaway pizza from the pizza restaurant run by the Chippy owners. Then N had his tennis lesson. They’re all still enjoying it, but I’m not sure there’s any coaching actually going on, they just seem to be playing games. Which is great as they enjoy it, but they could just run it as a less expensive social session rather than charging for coaching if they’re going to let the boys run rings around them rather than coach them.

Saturday – had my flu jab at our surgery. Nice and quick, and no pain or anything afterwards which was good. Otherwise just a normal end to the week.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • Hearing about a fair trip given I didn’t get to go
  • Theatre trip with some gorgeous dancing
  • Looking out for some Christmas things in the shops, although I’m not very inspired for gifts this year yet.

Things I’m grateful for this week:

  • Other parents able to pick N up and a safe fair trip.
  • The Y8 school disco seems to be organised thanks to me being the only one organising it even though I won’t be there. Thankfully someone else was able to buy the drinks and stuff. But if it’s going to continue, we need people to step up as the 2 of us doing all the work just aren’t available for the dates events are on.
  • Being able to get some food before the theatre. Sometimes it’s a bit tight.

  1. Hope you manage to find time to focus on your blog. Nice to have a theatre trip – it sounds like it was a good show. Glad N had a good evening at the fair and you were able to still enjoy your evening too. Hope you didn’t have any side effects from your flu jab. #project365

  2. I count a lie in as just staying in bed and relaxing whether it’s watching tv or dozing back to sleep, as long as I haven’t had to get up and make my own tea. N’s fair trip sounds like it was a success. Glad you were able to relax and you enjoyed your dancing on the same night.

  3. Well done to N for being so responsible and organising the trip to the fair. You should be very proud.
It seems that you’ve had a busy and fun week. That’s lovely.

  4. I had a lie-in on Sunday too, which is very unusual for me; there must be something in the air.
It sounds like N had fun at the fair. I know what you mean about worrying, though, once the evenings close in.
I hope you find some time and motivation to fix your blog issues; it can be very frustrating sometimes.

  5. Oh no! I hope you get your blog issues sorted.
Your OH’s Bolognese sounds interesting but nice you could cook together.
Good on the boys organising the outing to the fair. My girls went to a fair on Tuesday and I still worried. x
