Project 52 2025 week 7

It’s week 7. It’s been miserable February weather, and this week has mostly involved a lot of moaning about various things.

  1. The badly parked Porsche which has just been parked dumped on the corner of the main turning and drop off point in the village. Not great when the first day it was there, another car was parked the other side of it meaning you couldn’t even go down that road. It’s been left there all week. Stupid when there’s space in front of the houses for 3 cars.
  2. Threads has been multiple posting every post I do. Replies thankfully are ok, but even uninstalling and reinstalling only works for a short time. I’m getting no responses from help.
  3. Amazon Prime Music. I’ve just finished a 3 month trial of the full Amazon Music, but now back to Prime. And it just refuses to play the songs I request. It’ll play all of my playlist, except the 1 song I’ve requested. N gets annoyed about it because it just plays other tracks that are ‘similar’. What’s the point of having music streaming if it will only play what it thinks you want to hear. I refuse to pay £18 a month, or even the cheap £10 when I’m already paying for Prime. It seems that all the features they used to have are just disappearing unless you pay the extortionate prices.

Anyway here’s our week for Project 52.

Sunday – had a bit of a lie in. Then the usual Sunday chores, farm shop for meat, yet another purchase of packs of pants (anyone got any advice for trunks that keep their shape and don’t stretch out of all proportions, because I seem to permanently buying new packs – M&S aren’t lasting long/keeping their shape?). Then prepping dinner, made gingerbread cake for pudding, caught up with some more of the ice skating, and however many loads of washing.

Monday – apart from work not much happened, just N wanting to get best deals for buying a vacuum for his car washing business, so moving money, sorting out cashback voucher payments, online orders and when I can go and pick up items purchased! I hope he’s now stopped buying, and will actually make some money back over half term. If he could do a couple of cars a day that would be good going, although I don’t want to spend my days off (or my working days) trying to coordinate dropping him places. Hopefully it’ll be drier weather for him than today. Friends of ours drove their tractors up to London for the protests.

Tuesday – a great line dancing class. Another dance learned. I’m not sure how we’re meant to remember them all as the tunes or the names, as they do tend to blur into each other when there are similar steps.

Wednesday – N got the elastics for his braces. So far it’s not looking great for him wearing them. They said remove them for eating, sports, cleaning teeth. On a school day that basically means a lot of removing and replacing with no time to do with with a mirror etc. And even once home, he snacks on getting home, then 1 hour before tea, then might have pudding later in the evening. I keep saying the longer he puts them in, the faster it’ll be, but it’s hard work. And not helped by them rubbing the inside of his cheeks. As it is he sometimes gets ulcers from his brace rubbing, so adding this isn’t fun. He seemed fine overnight with them though.

Thursday – slightly quieter work day which was a bit of respite. Nipped to get some milk from the village shop at lunchtime. They refitted a few months ago to make the front of store more greengrocer, loose fruit & veg, farm shop style. All very nice, but takes up a lot of room (probably half the shop), and the rest of the ambient, chilled and frozen food is cramped and dark in the back of store. It always takes so long to find anything now.

Friday – such a cold day today, my thermal tops were in the wash, so only thin layers under my jumper. The heating kept kicking in during the day too, despite me having put it right down. Just another work day, and end of the school half term.

Saturday – pretty dull Saturday in line with the miserable weather. Just the usual bakery and butcher visits, M&S for some jeans returns (wide leg jeans just don’t work for me as they’re as wide as they are tall. But then tiny round the stomach and waist, even though a smaller size fits in the bootcut style). I did some more of a puzzle, and (still) catching up on the ice skating. So many hours of it, but I rarely get to watch more than an hour at a time, even with fast forwarding through the inbetween bits.

New posts this week:

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • A few longer chats with N while in the car.
  • Listening to country music. It’s my new favourite genre.
  • Trying a couple of different meals and noone moaned.

Things I’m grateful for this week:

  • Work discount offers – I’m really making use of them this year. Sometimes we can double up with cashback on gift vouchers, but also cashback if buying online.
  • Plentiful books to read while it’s miserable weather outside.
  • Daffodils on the window ledge in the kitchen

  1. Inconsiderate parking really irritates me. we live next door to a primary school, I’m grateful I work in a school and leave and return before the mayhem starts and ends everyday. The elastics sounds complicated, hope the rubbing eases for N and he gets faster at attaching them after eating.

  2. That’s annoying with the badly parked cars. Some drivers are just very inconsiderate. How frustrating that Threads is multiple posting everything. Hope N is having a good week with his car washing. The braces situation sounds annoying with having to take them out and put them back in multiple times a day. #project365

  3. Some drivers are so inconsiderate about where they park, as they don’t care.
I haven’t tried Amazon music, and don’t think I will bother. Glad to hear the dance class went so well.
Sorry to hear about N’s braces. When my younger had them fitted, the first few weeks were a nightmare, he kept saying they hurt, couldn’t chew anything. He’s used to them now, and only wears at night.

    1. He’s ok with the elastics at night now and getting the hang of putting them in, but in the day time it’s not very practical, he doesn’t have big enough slots of time to warrant removing and putting new ones in every hour or so inbetween sports, eating, cleaning teeth etc.

  4. Oh god, that doesn’t fill me with hope – Eliza is having her elastics fitted next Thursday. Sounds like it lots of grumbles – I have them too, but mine are mostly roadwork related. Let’s hope the weather starts improving as it certainly doesn’t help the mood

    1. Roadworks are just mad around here too at the mo. Every time you go and drive, you see another sign saying road closed notice. Getting to the end of the financial year, so more is being done!

  5. I know what you mean about Amazon Music it’s so annoying we don’t have Prime anymore as they took too many of the free features away and put them behind a paywall.
I hope N gets used to his elastics, they must feel strange to wear and do seem like a lot of maintenance.

  6. Ugh! I would be annoyed with those things too, it is especially annoying when technology doesn’t work like it’s supposed to.
Good luck to N with the car washing! It sounds like he is all set up for it with a vacuum.
Ahh! I remember when my eldest got elastics on her braces and we had tears when she couldn’t get them back on the first few times. She got the hang of it eventually and by the end could put them on without a mirror. x

  7. I love how this posts starts with a few moans but then ends with lots of gratitude. There is always something to moan about but also always lots to be grateful for 🙂
