Project 52 2026 week 11

Another week and the weather has been lovely again. Early morning mist clearing to blue skies and nearly no coat weather. My perfect weather for being able to walk around in the sun without being hot and sweaty. It’s been a busy work week, but lots of nice balance with hobbies and fun. Here’s my week 11 for Project 52.

Sunday – I needed to pick up an order at M&S. The food hall was packed with everyone buying motherโ€™s day flowers. People were queued out of the door for the tills. Thankfully I was 2nd in the queue for when they opened so was in and out super fast. Needless to say Iโ€™d bought my own flowers the day before. I treated myself to my free reward drink from Costa. The OH moaned I didnโ€™t tell him it was Motherโ€™s Day, but didnโ€™t bother thanking me for the flowers Iโ€™d already bought for his mum. I caught up with some new season Virgin River, and read some of my book.ย ย

I finally made up my mind to book on a line dance weekend in a couple of weeks. I was lucky they still had rooms available, but all booked. Now just need to work out if Iโ€™ve enough clothes suitable to dance in (and a big enough suitcase).

Monday – busy day at work. Nice easy dinner – pulled pork in the slow cooker. I think I need to find more slow cooker dishes that the family will all eat as itโ€™s so handy for meal prepping.ย

Tuesday – office day then straight off to the theatre in Milton Keynes for the opening night of Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts. The show was good and I had a great seat, but I couldnโ€™t shake off the feeling that noone can really replace John Thaw and Kevin Whately as the original Morse and Lewis.

The people I was sitting near were quite annoying. The guy on the right was eating chocolate popcorn from a plastic pack through the first act, and chatting to his wife as each act started. Then there was a man who kept squeezing past each time with no โ€˜excuse meโ€™ or โ€˜thank yousโ€™ to anyone. So rude. Iโ€™d have thought play audiences would have better etiquette than musicals, but evidently not.

Wednesday – more work. Good dance class this evening. The difference in their levels between improver and the intermediate/advanced class is huge. They whizz through teaching the dances in both lessons, but the first class is quite basic in the dances. But crikey, I need a slower walk through, and walking through the walls properly, instead of just doing a couple and then going straight to the music.ย

It means it takes me so much longer to learn and sink in than my other teacher. She teaches new dances in smaller chunks, building them up, then doing each wall in turn. Then all 4 walls. Then to music. I find it slow going it over for weeks at that level, but it means we learn the dances properly. Whereas my Wednesday classes, I can take weeks rather than 1 lesson to learn a dance! It feels like everyone else grasps it though, so maybe the more complicated dances will start to sink in a bit better the more I go.

Thursday – day pretty much full of meetings. N was left at home while the OH went back out drilling after tea, and I headed out dancing. Good class, evidently they missed me at the Tuesday class which probably meant lots of people forgot the dances, or that Iโ€™m a chatty one giving my opinions!

Friday – annual leave day. I debated going off visiting someone new, but decided to take it easy at home. With the whole war debacle and cost of fuel going up, as well as potential shortages down the line, I didnโ€™t fancy topping up my petrol more than I need to. I needed to pick up a couple of bits so went to the retail park, stopped for a Costa and a bit of blogging.ย  For an introvert I do like to work or read in the buzz of a coffee shop (hence why I usually say Iโ€™m an extroverted introvert).

Nโ€™s tennis session saw the return of one boy whoโ€™s had a clash til now, so spent the hour catching up with the other mum.ย

Saturday – N had an early hair cut, dropped him home before heading into town to get the usual bits. Had to queue for petrol at Sainsburyโ€™s so I presume either Tesco had run out, or had put up the prices faster (paid 2p more a litre than last week, at 141.9p). My brother popped in to teach N how to cook some venison which they had in a baguette for lunch. It made me laugh as it was like a pro lesson of precision! I spent the afternoon catching up on the final episodes of series 7 of Virgin River, and reading my book.

New posts this week:

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • Virgin River
  • Catching with with one of the tennis mums I’ve not seen for a while.
  • Finding perfect wide leg ‘jeggings’ from M&S. I’d like them in another colour but they don’t have my size in stock unfortunately. Someone even complemented me on how nice they looked (although I’ll likely wear them dancing too much and then wear them out fast like I always do!).

Things I’m grateful for this week:

  • Warm sunny weather
  • Someone else taking on the PTSA organising
  • There still being space on the dance weekender, and I can get a lift with someone to avoid all the faff with parking off the hotel site.

  1. I have really liked the weather over the last week, it has been just right!
It sounds like chaos in M&S but how great that you have booked the line dance weekend. I hope you have a great time.
It sounds like the dance class kept you on your toes and you had a nice day on Friday.
