Project 52 2026 week 18
This week’s been a bit tiring, late nights, and waking early are not the best. Here’s week 18’s goings on for Project 52.
Sunday – lucky with the weather which stayed dry as we went to a friend’s 50th drinks and nibbles. Nice to get out and see lots of our friends we’d not seen for a while, and others we’ve not seen for years. N stayed home, and then cooked steak for tea with his Gran and Gramp. His first night of being on his own home alone. He seemed quite chilled about it.
Monday – woke feeling tired for bank holiday Monday. I only had 1 small Prosecco at the do on Sunday, but not drinking much meant I could feel it the next day, and had a bit of a headache. I don’t think I drank enough through the day itself either which probably didn’t help.
Tuesday – work, then headed into town for dancing. A good class, but tiring as it was really warm. Nice to see someone return after her cancer treatment.
Wednesday – in the office, very quiet but I suspect this is the new normal. I didn’t go dancing because of the upcoming social, but tried to finish the choreography I’m doing for a friend’s new country song. It’s just a bit complicated with waltz timing and extra bars and restarts. N made pancakes for a late pudding.
Thursday – I had a flexi day off work. Went out to vote in the local elections before heading out to a coffee shop to sit and read my book in peace. I decided against heading out further afield as I knew the afternoon and evening would be busy.
Parents evening was pretty much straight after school. We only had to see 5 teachers, as the maths one was unavailable. All were good, and looking ok for next year’s exams. Then I cooked tea before heading out dancing.
Friday – fairly quiet work day, although took a while to get through all the emails and messages from just one day. Tennis was cancelled due to repainting of the courts, so I was able to head out for the line dancing social without any reorganising. A really good social, but why on earth they didn’t have the air con on at first was a mystery. I wasn’t the only one boiling, but at least it did get turned on for a bit, but I only noticed it for about 30 minutes. Phew it was a hot one.
Saturday – had to wake N up early for an optician appointment which went fine. Quick Costa stop (I’m liking the new hazelnut creme frappe) while we waited to be able to pick up N’s repaired air rifle. Then back home to vacuuming. N cleaned the BBQ so we had a nice bbq’d tea followed by Eton Mess.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- listening to a former colleague’s new song – it’s growing on me the more I listen to it, which is handy because I’m trying to work out a line dance for it.
- enjoying the warm weather on Saturday, with some time in the garden chatting to next door
- parents evening – it’s nice hearing good things about your child, and it’s funny to see a teen in his school environment, and not being his chatty self (but being very nonchalent and ‘teenagery’
Things I’m grateful for:
- a very cheap repair for N
- a child who’ll still clean and cook for BBQs
- air con at the dance social (but more needed for longer!)

Sounds like you had a lovely evening at your friend’s 50th and glad N was chilled out about his first night home alone. Good luck with working out the line dance to your friend’s song. Glad that parents’ evening went well. #project365
The strawberry plants are looking good. Great N loves to cook and cleans the Bbq as well. Hope the line dancing choreography incoming on well.
Are those N’s strawberries growing in your photo this week?
A BBQ tea sounds lovely. How great that N cleaned it up so you could use it.
It always surprises me that more places don’t have air conditioning, or they use it sparingly. We now get the type of temps in this country that require it. I can imagine dancing without it getting uncomfortable.
It sounds like you had a lovely time at your friends 50th and how wonderful for someone to return to dancing after cancer treatment. The line dancing social sounds like fun.
Parents evening’s are so different at secondary school. Good to hear N is doing well.
