Project 52 2024 week 25

Week 25 of the year and we’re past the summer solstice. Sob, now we’re on the downhill trend to darker evenings again. Hopefully the sunny weather of this week will last for a bit longer – it’s an ok temperature for me, although not the heatwave some may have been hoping for. Here’s our week for project 52.

Sunday – England won their first Euro 2024 match against Serbia but it wasn’t a great performance generally. An otherwise quiet day.

Monday – working day, and school. The weather’s improved, and joy, many of the roadwork places are now being packed up. Only a few to go.

Tuesday – drove across to Norfolk late afternoon for work. Luckily it was a great journey, and arrived in Ely to check in, then meet a few colleagues also staying over. We ate out, had a mini tour around the city, then had some drinks down by the river. A lovely evening and nice to be out with different people than I’d usually be out with.

Wednesday – our field trip visit to various farms and river spots to find out what work had been done at them. It was really interesting and increased my knowledge a lot. The weather was warmer than expected – I managed to forget my arms when putting suncream on so ended up a little red on those. The ‘excitement’ of the day was me managing to lock my car keys in the boot on arrival at the meet up. So I had to arrange a locksmith to come and meet me when I arrived back. Luckily he could come out and it was a quick job before I could get on my way home. Another good journey home which was a relief compared to my last work journey out that way which was a crawl.

Thursday – less frantic day of work. My INR was a bit over range for the first time in 6 months, so back again to test next week. Also had my blood pressure taken – started a little high (I hate having it taken, and I’d just rushed into my appointment), but she took it again and it was ok. N was meant to have a clay shooting lesson, but the instructor wasn’t there when they arrived. It turned out he was on holiday. England’s second match was pretty poor, but ended up a draw, so they’re still top of the group with one match to go.

Friday – my Tesco shop was very late, and not so much as an apology from the driver which was rude I thought. Luckily I just had enough time before my meeting was due to start to put everything away. N helped out at both the red and orange group at tennis this week. So I took his burger and chips for tea down to have as a picnic given he only had 50 minutes before his own lesson.

Saturday – somehow I’ve got a really painful thumb which really hurts when I move it. I’ve also got a bite on the outside of the same hand where it joins my wrist, so I don’t know if it’s all linked. Hopefully the pain will ease. We had to go to the farm supplies place so N could stock up on clays. I’m not sure how many he thinks he’s going to get through, but he bought a lot.

  1. It got a bit too warm here for me, but now feels like we’re in winter again. oh no to locking the keys in the boot, glad it didn’t spoil your trip to Norfolk though

  2. I am liking this temperature, warm enough but there’s still been a bit of a breeze.
    Hooray for the roadwork finishing!
It sounds like a lovely trip away apart from locking your keys in the boot.
That was bad form with Tesco, I always complain when the drivers are rude, it costs nothing to be polite.
I hope your thumb is feeling better now. x
