Project 52 2025 week 13

It’s been a pretty rough and shocking week, I don’t know how long that’ll last. But otherwise there were some nice moments, fun things, and it’s always nice to be busy. Here’s how my week 13 of Project 52 went.

Sunday – a nice relaxing day. I needed to get some limes for pudding but apart from that I read, caught up on some films, practised some of my line dancing, did some of my puzzle which is taking ages.

Monday – day off. I headed to Oxford to see if I could get some boots from Schuh for line dancing and use my remaining giftcard money. Unfortunately there was nothing in store, so treated myself to some new Birkenstocks. I stacked a £5 loyalty voucher, £40 gift card (from a previously competition win), and then bought a cashback voucher so ended up paying under £30. I got some socks/t shirts the OH needed, treated them to some Bens Cookies, had some lunch and did a bit more wandering round. Then back home to drop of some Next sale returns and pick up some summer tops I’d ordered. Disappointing gaping underarms, so I’ll only keep 2 of them, the others will go back.

I went to the tennis club AGM to find out what was going on. Looks like I’ll be able to play and go, rather than having to pay for membership I won’t use. And fingers crossed we might be getting back rusty rackets again.

Tuesday was a shocker of a day. Lots going on non-stop, and it’s going to be like that for a while. I did have line dancing in the evening which was fun, although very warm. I hope they start opening windows and doors in the summer, but I’m definitely going to have to find cooler clothes for such a warm room.

Wednesday – super busy again. After work had to rush off to get N to football training. It was a nice evening to be outside for it.

Thursday – busy, busy again. Nice to have an evening with nothing on.

Friday – it was our annual PTSA quiz. I joined another table so it was good to catch up with people I’ve known since NCT committee days. We’d expected 15-17 tables, but then lots of people who’d not pre-booked turned up. Luckily there was just enough room to fit in 20 tables needed. We made really good profit from the quiz entry costs, raffle, and tuck shop. Our team got announced as the winners. Until the previous winners (teachers) queried their score because they knew they’d marked the table next to them and knew they couldn’t have been behind them like they were announced. They had 6 points missing, so we were only 1st for about 5 minutes. It was a really fun evening though, and now I’m thinking I really should be finding some other quizzes to go to.

Saturday – tough football match for the team. We only had 10 players rather than the 11 we’d thought, and it was vs the top of the league. The boys played so well in the first half holding them to a 0-0 draw. Unfortunately the other team had fresh legs with a full 16 squad and at 2-1 down, we then had a player sent off, so 9 against 11 was going to be pretty impossible. It ended up 4-1, but they didn’t totally outplay us. Our last match against them was a 4-0 loss, so it was a creditable score for our boys. Such a shame though, because if we’d had our full team, we could have beaten them given they weren’t an amazing team. It’s looking like we’ll have to forfeit next week’s match too – we’re just struggling to get a team out at the moment, and with Oxfordshire’s school holidays starting then, lots are on holiday.

We had a quick lunch before N had his hair cut, and bought me some flowers for Mother’s Day which he’s already given me!

It was very satisfying to watch the rain pimples on my car from the sealant N had used on it.

No new posts this week.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • Line dancing and chatting away to people there
  • I love a quiz so it was great to actually get to one, and do well in it.
  • Having a day off for a bit of shopping and time to myself

Things I’m grateful for:

  • Lots of supportive colleagues and appreciative people
  • having time at lunch to prep dinner, and to have leftovers meaning less stress when I’m heading out.
  • not getting punctures after clunking through a huge pothole on our road that’s been reported for over a month but still hasn’t been checked on by the council.
  • my INR was back in range finally!

  1. It sounds like you had a very busy week! I have seen line dancing before, but never had the courage to actually join a class. It seems like a nice way to keep active. It’s great you got to see so many different friends.

  2. I do love a good quiz, but find joining in with existing teams a bit daunting. Well done to the boys persevering with the football when down to 9. Glad to hear your INR levels are back in the normal range.

  3. Sorry to hear that you had a tough week but glad there were nice moments. That’s good news about being able to pay and go with the tennis club and that rusty rackets might be returning. Glad the PTSA quiz went well – well done for being 1st for five minutes! Shame about N’s team being a player down – they sounded like they played really well though. #project365

  4. Line dancing – I go because I like to dance, but it’s great for meeting new people too. I didn’t expect it to be much of a workout, but I do get very hot, and it definitely burns a lot of calories, so ended up being god exercise too.

  5. You are very busy. I hope the team will find a couple of players so the others don’t feel disheartened. How lovely that N bought you flowers for Mother’s Day. Well done to him.

  6. The pattern of raindrops is mesmerising. Sorry to hear the week had some shocking news, but it also sounds like you had good moments too with the line dancing and the quiz.
You did admirably well, shopping in Oxford, with all the discounts. I went to Next earlier today, and tried a couple of things, but didn’t like the way they looked on me (was also surprised that the size 12 jacket totally drowned me, and I tend to buy size 12).
Hope this week will treat you kindly. Big hugs.

  7. So sorry you didn’t have a great week. Sending love and hugs. I am glad you could find some nice moments.
It sounds like a successful shopping trip on Monday and well done with the PTSA quiz.
Good job to the football team, they did well considering they started with a man down. x
