Project 52 2026 week 20
This week’s been a bit chilly, but leading up to what might end up being a heatwave. It’s certainly felt like warmer than 23C when at 8.30 in the morning it’s already 20C. Here’s what I’ve been up to for project 52 in week 20.
Sunday – woke up to hear that the UK had yet again come last in Eurovision. It was an awful song in my opinion but I thought it would do a little better given how terrible most other Eurovision songs are, and that it was more wacky and typical Eurovision compared to some more serious songs. I didn’t bother watching the show back as I’d planned.
Just a nip to the shops, then pottering again at home.
Monday – felt like a very early start this morning. I woke at 5am then dozed for the next 1.5 hours til my alarm. Just work and school so nothing unusual going on.
Tuesday – it was like a sauna in the office. I hope they get the cooling fixed for next week when it’s hot. Dancing was super warm too.
Wednesday – just work, school and then back to my other dance class in the evening after 2 weeks off. I was worried I wouldn’t remember the advanced dance we learnt, but it turns out that watching lots of videos of it helps! It was a good class, and I’m remembering more of the dances.
Thursday – more road closures. The road out of the village the other side was shut, so no school bus coming through once the early morning one went through. So we’re back to dropping in the next village in the morning, and a long detour at pick up time. We had no notice about this closure – it appeared on One.Network a few hours after closing. And joy, we have a road near us closed for a day next week, and then the t-junction to our nearest village and my brother’s village will be shut for 3 days the week after. Yet more faffy diversions – a pain in the car, but even more hassle getting the tractors around long diversions and through the villages rather than just half a mile up our road.
Dancing in the evening was soooo hot. It had only been 23-25C in the day, so not sure why the room was so warm. Otherwise a good night dancing though.
Friday – hot hot hot day. I did actually get out in the sun a bit. My washing was dry in about an hour as it was breezy too. N cooked pizza in the pizza oven for tea – he had to put up the old beach windbreaks because it was struggling in the wind. The OH finally got a replacement vehicle. But it’s automatic, so that’s going to be interesting if I have to drive it. I sat outside on one of the picnic benches at N’s tennis lesson so that was nice. Then got home and started planning my Take That concert trip in a couple of weeks.
Saturday – early start with an opticians appointment. My distance is still fine, but need new reading glasses (ouch to the cost compared to the last pair 2 years ago! And annoyingly I couldn’t get online to see if my work discounts company gave any discounts…when I got home I found it would have been 30% off. Sob). Rushed around all the various places – the butchers was super busy with everyone buying bbq meat. Otherwise a relaxing day staying inside in the cool getting through 3 episodes of The Teacher that I’d got store up to watch.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:
- sitting outside while waiting for tennis to finish
- 5 new dances this week and ordered some new dance trainers. My old ones are so filthy from one venue’s floor and are quite worn down now, so I’ll have the new ones for socials, and move my lavender ones to everyday. Although I don’t really want those wrecked as well (someone needs to invent a way to clean toddler group glitter, glue and mess from community hall floors!)
- listening to Take That music in readiness for the gig in a few weeks. I’m really just as excited to be seeing The Script.
Things I’m grateful for this week:
- my cut finger from a broken glass jar in the rubbish stopping bleeding without the needs for my steri strips I bought recently but couldn’t find.
- no issues with my eyes, other than the expense of new glasses
- plenty left at the farm shop/butcher’s

It was so hot, I even managed to dry a quilted blanket. The washing smells so nice when dried outside.
The Eurovision was not great. I watched with Eddie, and we felt bad for the British singer, though to be fair his song was cringeworthy.
So annoying with the road closures.
Lovely to learn so many new dances. And ouch, at the prices going up for the new glasses.
It was a terrible song wasn’t it. Embarrassing.
Shame about the missed discount. It’s been lovely being able to get the washing dried outside now. Ouch to your cut finger. Your roads seem to be closed more than they are open, I hope the students doing their GCSE’s aren’t too stressed by it all. I don’t watch Eurovision anymore, it’s just a battering for the UK, it’s gone beyond a joke now.
We often seem to come last in Eurovision these days. I didn’t watch it as I was doing a show that evening but Sophie always enjoys watching. How annoying to have more road closures especially with no notice and find you had a discount for the opticians after you got home. How nice to learn 5 new dances – not so nice to have your dance trainers wrecked from the mess on the floor though. #project365
Our Eurovision song was really bad and we deserved last place.
Ugh to the road closures. We had a couple closed recently but thankfully the buses were still coming through here but diverting after our stop.
I am on with doing washing today and it is drying outside quicker than I can get it washed.
Have a fab time seeing Take That!
