Project 52 2026 week 30

Quite a laid back week with not much going on, other than the usual stuff, although there was some sad news at the end of the week about a dancer friend. Still no more than a couple of minutes rain despite some really stormy grey skies. Fingers crossed there’s a bit more next week. Here’s my Project 52 week 30.

Sunday – quick trip into town for petrol (eek, to the fast rise from last week’s rise, although our town does seem a little lower than the national average), but otherwise relaxing day. Spent catching up on tv shows on Now before my month’s subscription finishes, then some The Rookie with N, and some reading. We did have about a minute’s worth of rain – not more than 2 swipes of my windscreen wipers, so can’t really count it as raining.

Monday – back to work. Cooler day today at 24C. Had a chat about the hassle of selling on Vinted with the post office lady when I went to send a parcel. I think I’m just going to get rid of my pile to the charity shop. 

Tuesday – day in the office. Then loitered around before dancing. Good class, but hot as is the norm nowadays.

Wednesday – quiet day in the office. Sorted out some of my ISA/bank account stuff. I need to shuffle things around, move to better interest rates, and start a stocks & shares ISA in readiness for the changes. I hate doing all the finance stuff, it’s such a faff.

Thursday – day off. Couldn’t decide what to do or where to go. Too hot for a day in London, felt like too much driving to go to the cowboy boots store in Sheffield. So ended up just going into town for a few bits, coffee shop for a drink and pastry, then back home to relax. Watched some tv with N, read. N didn’t need me to take him to his clay shooting lesson, so I had plenty of time to get to dancing. Good class. It’ll be interesting to see how many move up to improvers next week, and whether we get stuck doing all the beginners dances again rather than recapping all the improver ones we’ve done.

Friday – early Tesco shop arrived nicely on time before work. Short working day, and fairly quiet. Got quite a few bits done, so set for next week. Then very quiet as N was off on the farm all day. The dog was pottering around all afternoon, and spent quite a long time barking at no idea what.

I booked myself on a random line dance workshop in a couple of weeks run by another teacher. It’s learning 5 dances in a couple of hours, so hopefully it won’t be too hot as they’re all fairly fast.

Also had a panic over N’s college open days. The further away college has released their dates, first one is on the same day as the local college. Which is a weekend I’m away so the OH would have to take him. So booked him in for the October date instead which is later than he wanted. Then found that the local college has changed their September date that clashed to the week after the other one in October…which is a clash with N’s school history trip. Sigh. The local college doesn’t have another date until January! But given N wants to apply asap, it’s frustrating.

Saturday – early morning hair appointment. I quite fancy something different, but struggle to find anything I like online that I can be bothered to style. But the hairdresser did wave my hair which was nice rather than straight. Are peopl.e not getting their hair cut anymore? It’s always so empty in there, compared with a few years ago when it would have so many more hairdressers in and receptionists etc. I mean I drag mine out to 12 weeks because it’s now over £70 for a cut and blow dry, but the town’s growing, and the other hairdressers look similarly busy or not, apart from the millions of barber shops!.

Spotted the green woodpecker that’s now a daily visitor to the garden.

I thought I was on teen boy taxi duty for swimming, but that didn’t happen. So a fairly relaxing day.

Our garden looks quite green in this photo, but it doesn’t look it in real life. Being at the bottom of the hill we get run off in the winter. But everything’s just like straw.

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

• Quite a bit of dancing around the kitchen
• A day off, even if I didn’t do much.
• Watching the birds flying around over the garden and field.

Things I’m grateful for this week:

• Cooler nights, back to duvet rather than my cooling blanket
• The 2 minutes of rain that felt as I got out of the car to go into the house after dancing. It was short but felt so good. Now, a bit more is needed for the fields.
• Books…what feels like never ending books, although I’ve been a bit slower reading recently.
