wisteria starting to come out

Project 52 2026 week 14

A week which was a mix of days off and only a couple in work. Mostly good weather, although it has got a bit windy and chilly again towards the end of the week.

Thankfully the petrol forecourts near us have been more normal this week (I don’t know why everyone in our town goes a bit nuts whenever there’s any slight concern), although Tesco is still closing overnight rather than being 24 hours like normal. Fingers crossed everything holds and those with big egos and weapons go back to their own countries. Now I can think about more day trips out instead of wondering whether I’ll need to conserve fuel.

Here’s my project 52 for week 14 of the year.

Sunday – Easter. No eggs around here, well apart from a few reduced mini eggs I’d got. Didn’t bother buying one for N as he’ll get chocolate from others, and will spend months with it sat on the side uneaten. Didn’t do much all day as they were out working on the farm. Read, watched tv, did some blogging. We had turkey crown for dinner with all the trimmings.

Monday – had to nip to get some nice bread. Got home and realised I’d forgotten the potatoes I needed. Sigh. Village shop wasn’t open by that time, so back into town a second time. It was such a lovely day it was nice to put the washing outside.  Our wisteria is starting to come out, won’t be long before it’s blooming. It broken off the wall years ago, so just droops along by the car and living room window now. But it’s still nice to see it.

Tuesday – back to work. Not much going on, but dancing in the evening. New block of lessons, and more beginners have moved up to improvers (including my friend, yay!). It did mean that it was all very basic in the improvers class, but hopefully they’ll grasp it quite fast and we’ll stop having to re-go through beginners dances that they’ve been doing for at least the whole last block of classes! I could never be a teacher, having to go over basic dances because people just can’t, or won’t bother, remember them.

Wednesday – In the office for work. Went out with a group of colleagues to grab some lunch. We’d hoped to sit outside by the canal, but there were no seats. It was nice to be out of the office with other people for lunch though. N had friends over to hang out in the afternoon given the weather was so nice. It’s rare he actually organises to see friends as he’s always helping on the farm, so it was nice to know he was catching up with friends in person. No dancing in the evening, so a nice relaxing evening.

Thursday – flexi day and nice only having a 2 day working week! Had a bit of a lie in reading. The cows were let out into the fields, so it’s nice to see them out behind the house. I nipped in for bread, but otherwise chilled out day. Dancing in the evening. We did learn an old classic beginners dance in the first session that was quite a nice one. But in the improvers session it was so much more basic than it needed to be given there was noone moving up from beginners.

Friday – N wanted to go into town to get his air rifle fixed. We stopped for lunch at Costa. Otherwise I wanted to rest my knee for the evening as it had been aching while dancing for too long and then while walking in town (teen walks way too fast for me nowadays!). Evening was line dancing social night. It was lots of good dancing, although 3 of our requested dances didn’t get played. Someone asked for one of my new favourites that was played as everyone was getting ready to go. So I had to leap up and dance it in my loafers as I’d changed my shoes. I’m going to have to rest my ankle over the next few days as it was twingeing again.

Saturday – frustrating day. Reported more potholes. I keep seeing different small roads near us with signs up saying they’re going to be re-dressed. But needless to say ours has no sign of that. Sigh.  Ours is worse than all but one of the ones currently saying it’s closing for works. So I really need to ring the council and find out what’s going on. Otherwise I’m going to have to look into doing a Section 56 to force them to fix it.

The day didn’t feel very relaxing – usual Saturday jobs to do, plus getting out to the bakery, butchers etc. A lot of back and forth.

wisteria starting to come out

New posts this week:

Things I’ve enjoyed this week:

  • Lunch out with work colleagues. I rarely leave the office at lunchtime, so it was nice to do that with others
  • Good line dancing social
  • Lunch out with N

Things I’m grateful for this week:

  • Spring seeing the cows and calves enjoying being out in the fields
  • Rock tape (although it’s not as sticky as it used to be).
  • Days off work.

  1. We’re the same with Easter eggs – the kids tend to self-limit and it takes them a while to get through the ones they get from other people. Lovely to have the wisteria coming out. The line dancing social evening sounded fun. Hope your ankle is feeling better now. How nice to have lunch out with work colleagues. #project365

  2. My guys are happy with chocolate eggs, especially my older one would gobble up everything at once, so I have to hide them and ration, that is until he finds my stash and helps himself.
    Your easter meal sounds tasty.
What a palaver with the potholes. Hope you will have them fixed asap.

  3. Our granddaughter is the same with easter eggs, she was still eating one in February from last year. All the pots holes around us have been filled and badly, but job done, they haven’t been sealed so the lids are lifting off. One the border in the neighbouring county where I work, the roads have been fixed properly and resurfaced. Different councils, different funding.

    1. We have the same with Warwickshire. Usually even their back roads are beautifully smooth. Although this year, they’ve resorted to pothole filling – but super fast compared to our county.

  4. After Wednesdays lovely weather the next few days have felt like a bit of a let down.
Ohh! Your turkey dinner on Sunday sounds good and it is nice to get the washing out on the line. That is good N had his friends over and yay for the 2 day working week.
I hope you have some luck getting the pot holes fixed.
